Hardware stores often sell a whole whack, as do hobby stores that deal with R/C things like cars, planes, boats, etc.

If you lived in the Toronto area, I’d suggest Active Surplus. They used to be on Queen St, but I’m not sure they’re still there now that Queen St has gotten all trendy.

cool thanks!!

If i lived in the Toronto area  i being pestering you all that live in Mississauga and St. Catharines.

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Rip appart an old VCR or busted CD Player or a big old ghetto blaster with a twin tape deck. Lots of gears and motors in those!

Threadbare:

Hasslefree has something that might work.

Hasslefree Miniatures - Shop - Accessories - Steampunk Stuff - Steampunk parts 8g (HFCOGS08)

I do the same, just save any small gears I can find from anything I can for that long planned and un-eventuated project

Bassman:

Do you have a laser printer? Exhausted cartridges contains a lot of nice gears. I used them for my HellCannon http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/contest17.php

Try http://www.dhgate.com/wholesale/parts-tools-accesory/c102012015.html#DCP102-L3

Chinese wholesale sites have tons of plastic stuff, for pennies. I often buy their crap when I make scenery pieces considering the super low price.

Just found some nice gears today in a pair of battery powered salt and pepper grinders that didn’t grind big grains as advertised, and now have to small motors that I’ll probably never find a use for too
