[Archive] Giants, can we use them and in that case, should we?

Nazhur:

Hello fellow chaotic dwarfs, I´m wondering if we still can use the giant in our army and where can I find rules to support that? I just got a ginat in a birthday present and would very much enjoy to have it in my army.

Second, is it any good to use one? Have never tried it and never meet one eather.

Thommy H:

No. Giants can be used as dogs of war in certain armies, but Chaos Dwarfs aren’t one of them.

Nazhur:

Too bad, I thought almost every army could use one :frowning: Was it not in a WD about soemthing like that or did I just dream it?

Nazhur
you're correct it was in a white dwarf but chaos dwarfs were not one of the armies that could use them.

I believe about 2 years ago (could have been longer, can't recall), there was an article in the WD about giants. It was called 'Giants for Hire'. In this article you got the giant rules + any armies who might field them. The list included: Empire, Dark Elves, Vampire counts, Tomb Kings, Skaven and Dogs of War. It would cost you a rare slot, but you'd have a giant in your army. Unfortunatly no CD's in the list. :(

snowblizz:

Of course the CD are about as official as the allied giants anyways… why not ask your opponents if you can include one?

And mention you’ll just have to take 2 Earthshakers if they want to be facetious.

Baggronor:

Plus you could model it as a Kollossus

Fequiil:

Baggronor
yeah, we've seen that before, where was it agian?

The Brain:

It’s a game you can do what ever you want. As long as you are not playing in a tornament run by someone esle you can do what ever you want. You can use high elves, beastmen, or even monkies for that matter, let your imagination go wild.

dncswlf:

YEah, I say as long as your opponent doesn’t mind go for it, Giants are fun to field, and can wreak havoc on your armies as well if things go awry (it falls over, or gets carried away! sorry if these rules don’t apply any more, they used to do that anyway) As the brain said, this is a game… any random things could happen and you can rationalize it “in game” if you have to, but the real object is to have fun… so go for it!

Da Crusha:

you could convert it to be a chaos dwarf giant like maelzch did.

Willmark:

Some of the best games I’ve ever played and had the most fun in is mixing up units, not worrying about points and just playing.

Nazhur:

Mixing units could be fun indeed. That´s why I also like to fight battle of 2000p but with two armies (1000p each working together)

Bassman:

Yes, field them in friendly games. They are real fun!

And if you field something like this http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=227&page=22 nobody could complain
