Kera foehunter:

Well i thought this would be a fun thing to do to.

to see how many people where Glasses /contacts. and who don’t wear them.

Ok i"ll start… i wear Glasses and contacts:hat off

MLP:

Random thread! I’m meant to wear glasses but I often don’t.

zobo1942:

No glasses here.

I used to have to wear them a couple of decades ago but strangely, my vision is perfect now.

Rickie:

Have glasses, but only use em while driving. I see evrything within half a meter perfectlyish.

Zanko:

No glasses and no contacts - till now!

We will see what happend the next time cause I’m growing older and older! :frowning:

Stepper:

Non glasses here, but as im over 30 now it won’t be long anymore lol

Glasses. I most likely have grooves in my skull to prove it for the entertainment of future archaeologists I’m sure. Can’t get my mind to entertain the idea of putting stuff into my eye so have never used contacts. I really should have bought more than 3 pairs of glasses over 20 years I think. It’s not like my skull

grows anymore but those first years when I was 11… oh well too late now.

It’s actually not strange at all. I assume you were nearsighted when younger. This is caused by the muscles being too stiff, not allowing the lens to focus properly at distance. As we age the muscles relax or wear out or whatever and the ability to focus changes somewhat. This is why older people need reading glasses, the eye cannot focus closely anymore due to loose muscles.

zobo1942:

I was a little nearsighted, but only in one eye. Eventually, I started to get headaches whenever I wore the glasses (~18 years ago), so I stopped wearing them.

Anyway, it’s all good now. My wife has had to get her glasses replaced several times because the little ones keep grabbing them and twisting them up.

GRNDL:

If only you could see what I’ve seen with your eyes…

G.2:

Glasses, only when I am sitting and working on the computer, and when I am reading.

Update: Maybe if I wore them while painting, my painting technique would improve.

I don't think you're supposed to wear them both at the same time. ;P

I wear glasses for anything I need to focus on beyond about 1m. So around the garden etc and a lot of the time I don't wear them.

Both my parents wear/wore glasses, so there was no hope of avoiding it! :~

Yeah it depends a lot on how "badly" you see too. E.g. for me with a ~ -2 and -2.5 (not *that* bad, mom's old college friend had -14 !!!) it might get somewhat better but I doubt I'll ever get rid of my glasses.
For those unfamiliar "-" means nearsighted and "+" farsighted, it describes if you need a convex or concave lens.

Of course my mom who had to start wearing reading glasses now claims she doesn't see properly at distance either. That's one of the worse versions since you need bifocals and they are annoying as heck to use.

The thing surprising me the most though was that last time I went to get new glasses they got me with a correction error too. I just thought it was my lenses being badly scratched. Turns out I had gotten a completely new kind of problem to boot.
Still remember that first time with glasses. I absolutely had not realized how badly I saw before, it was incredible. It really pays to get the eyes tested once in a while too. Just giving it as a tip, like I said, you just won't notice when something gradually creeps up on you.

Ovic:

I’ve worn glasses since getting called out, by a teacher, for squinting at the chalkboard, in eighth grade. Contacts came later… trying to look good and all that, but they are kind of a bother. I’m told I will need need bifocals, when I turn forty, in a few years. It will complete the over weight, balding, nerd look I’m trying to achieve.

beefcake:

Glasses since I was about 16-17. My drivers license doesn’t say I need glasses though as I managed to pass the sight test without them, although I always drive with them on anyway. I’m nowhere near as basd as Mr Magoo driving without them on, so you needn’t worry if I’m coming the other way.

brotsorrow:

i wear glasses or contacts - depending on how long my shift is and who i have to impress

Abecedar:

Reading glasses only for the past couple of years. Hang on, that coincides with some miniature painting thing from somewhere.

furrie:

I’m still free of glasses.

Baggronor:

I draw and paint and sculpt tiny, tiny men with beards. It’s a wonder I can still see at all.

Glasses.

Tried contacts but it took me 35 mins to get them in and an hour to get them out.

Skink:

My parents, my grandparents, my brother, my sister, my uncles, my aunts, and my nephew wear glasses. Apparently I’m the only one in the family that doesn’t need them. When I think about it I have a weird feeling…

Kera foehunter:

Grims lol throw some morning i have tryed

And Grndl I have seen that your not paying your bills…

But i find it interesting that most of the hobby side converting people has glasses…
