This round of Golden Hat has been sponsored by WarColours Shop! The gold winner will receive a store coupon worth ,20, while the silver and bronze winner respectively will be awarded with a ,10 store coupon.

Furthermore, this Golden Hat has been sponsored by Zanko. The gold winner of the contest will receive 8 Titan Wargames Dragoons (4 front rank, 4 rear rank)!

While the silver winner will receive 1 kit of Taming of the Wildman of Ancient Times, donated by Admiral:

Finally, the bronze winner will receive 1 Lord kit from Macrocosm Miniatures’ upcoming Dark Dwarves range:

Subject Matter: First Line!

For this contest we want you to paint a front rank consisting of 5 models, from any Chaos Dwarf, Infernal Dwarf or Abyssal Dwarf unit with a complete command group option.

The 5 models must include:

1 Musician

1 Standard Bearer

1 Champion

The two additional models may be any type that would be allowed in such a unit. For example, this may include the standard rank-and-file models befitting the unit (Hobgoblins, Chaos Dwarf Warriors, Bull Centaurs, or whatever unit type you have chosen), they may be characters, one may be a battle standard bearer, or combinations thereof. K’daai Fireborn do not qualify, since they lack musicians and standard bearers.

If you are unsure if your entry will fit the subject matter, please contact Admiral and he’ll sort it out with the rest of the Staff.

Basing is unrestricted and up to your discretion with the following exception: Display bases and plinths are not allowed, and neither are diorama style bases.

Specifics

Subject: Front rank of 5 including musician, standard bearer and champion from a unit in the Chaos Dwarfs army.

Bases: Up to your discretion. No display bases, plinths, or diorama style bases though, please.

The Due Date: 11:59 PM August 18th, 2016 EST (Eastern Standard Timezone)

Please read the full rules that apply to the Golden Hat competition before submitting your entry.

Submission

All entries must be sent to the Golden Hat account no later than the due date. Entries will not be accepted after this. (Entrants have approximately 4 weeks to complete entries). If for some reason you are having trouble with your submission, contact one of the Staff. In order to avoid problems, entrants should not wait until the last minute to submit their entries.

How to Enter

Upload up to 4 photos of your entries to the Internet. Photos may not have additional text or items/models unrelated to your entry. Next, send a PM to Golden Hat (a special user that all Staff have access to) containing the links where the pictures can be found. (Note: This is the same as previous Golden Hats).

If you win:

- Walk across the backs of the cowed masses you have scorned and pushed aside, in order to take your place in the vaunted Golden Hat Hall of Fame.

- Receive the Golden Hat medal for your online persona.

- Everyone who enters gets a number of slaves equal to the number of entries. If 20 people enter we award 20 slaves to each person who entered. Entries will count towards a veteran medal.

- Win riflemen or a sacrificial scene! See above for details.

Once all entries are received a thread will be created for voting and determining the winners!

If there are any questions it is best post them here so that everyone can benefit from any details or clarifications that may arise.

Prize

All top three winners will receive WarColour store coupons, while the gold winner will win eight Dragoons, and the silver winner will win a Taming of the Wildman while the bronze winner will receive a Lord pack (see above for details).

Should you wish to donate a prize to the contest, please PM Admiral and he will sort it out with you and the Staff.

Good luck everyone!

Great. something to sink the teeth into.

… Any Command and 2 rankers from a unit in the Chaos Dwarf army.

First question. Are all LoA, AoS or 9th Age CD armies accepted

clam:

In 3 weeks? A true slave master

I can’t make it but am looking forward seeing what people can come up with.

Malorndk:

YEEES GH!!

Nooooo… more than one model… RIP

I think I might be able to do this, but everything will have to align rather perfectly for a slow painter like myself to be able to participate. The entries are gonna be awesome though! Can’t wait to see them <3

Abecedar:

I’m a bit concerned about the lack of other responces to this.

Helblindi:

I’m already painting something! I like the theme, it’s a nice way to get started on a new unit.

Abecedar:

I’ve assembled some ideas to choose from, done some cleaning up and …

Blood has already been spilled.

you must always hold the hobby knife and cut AWAY from yourself...

TheHoodedMan:

Summertime, 5 models in 3 weeks, that is challenging, at least for me as I am kneedeep in some other projects :~.

Abecedar
If you're lucky, Hashut will accept your offering and award you gold.

;P

Jackswift:

Have some ideas, but nothing terribly inspiring yet.  KoW doesn’t allocate command groups in quite the same way that some other systems do, so following that will require some conversion work to meet the requirements.  Debating on ordering a few things needed to finish the unit I am leaning towards… which could postpone any serious work another week or so. That stated, I do plan to participate as this directly serves as a good reason to finish a unit of models… or make headway on one at the very least

Fuggit Khan:

I'm a bit concerned about the lack of other responces to this.

Abecedar
It's a great theme (thank you to our clever Admin Staff for such a great idea), but I will have to skip out this time.
I'm trying to stick to my self imposed vow to complete models for playing Full Thrust space battles this summer...plus I was foolish enough to do some commission work painting models for some people at my local game store.
But I am really looking forward to the entries, good luck to everyone :hat off

Darkmeer:

Well… The unit I started painting doesn’t include a musician… I have another that is near ready to work on, so I’m going to have to try to get something done quickly.

Here goes nothing…

Admiral:

Update: WarColours have sponsored this Golden Hat! Store coupons for all three winners, see announcement post for details.

Most generous of them. :cheers

Abecedar
Any full command, and 2 rank and filers or up to two allowed characters to fill a front rank of five, yes.

Yes, all those evil dwarf armies are accepted, though keep to Abyssal Dwarfs in Kings of War and keep away from allied armies. Beard or bust, basically, along with associated slave and monster units in the evil stunty armies.

Also, I’m currently late in responding to PMs and questions since this is the best time of summer. Outdoor activities and work keeps one absent and busy, but I’ll be back home sooner or later to respond. Happy summertime and good luck paintin’!

Carcearion:

Ahh I feel awful saying this since these contests are really what drew me to the forum, but I think I’ll have to bow out on this one. I just dont have another banner/icon bearer that isn’t either already done and displayed in my blog or being worked on by someone else (I’m awful with banners and bribe my fiance to do work on them for me). :frowning:

Malorndk:

I think I’ll have to bow out as well. 5 miniatures is a lot for me, and it coincides with the summer vacation for the kids (And my new Pokémon Go addiction…)

Jackswift:

(And my new Pokémon Go addiction...)

Malorndk
... be sure to avoid ziggurat steps, cliffs, lava flows, fast moving chariots, bull centaur stampedes, lammasu dens, hobgoblin steam engine derbys, etc... Pokeman Go was secretly intended as a social test actively supporting natural selection... ;P    But seriously... take care... some kids in my village had to be rescued from the river because they were crossing mid stream to go after a Pokeman... quite amazing that people are putting their lives on the line for intangible digital acquisitions. Sorry for the OT dirgression.

Carcearion
Convert a Banner bearer and just make the pole top an object (such as a bull head or icon) instead of an actual banner. :idea

Finally decided on my entry... a unit I had back-burnered and forgotten about... rather looking forward to working on it... now to convert up the requisite command and decide on the scheme...

Carcearion:

Oh no, you made me realize I actually have some great bits for making an Icon right now. I could probably use the squad I?Tm currently working on to and there is still plenty of time for the deadline.

Curse you Jackswift :stuck_out_tongue:

I think I?Tm back in.

Malorndk:

Kids will be kids and the mother of stupid is always pregnant. I have taught Parkour for 7 years, and I have seen people do some pretty stupid things. I pretty sure I know my physical limitations well enough to do anything dangerous. (Unless its a legendary event. I swear on me mum that I won't miss my Mewtwo for anything!) ;)

Skink:

I am in. I will try really hard this time. I’ve been itching to get back to my Chaos Dwarfs for quite some time now. I want to add a ludicrous amount of infantry to my army. And a first rank is exactly what I need to get started.
