Warcolours Presents: The winners of the 30tth Golden Hat competition!
We had a great turnout of entries, with submissions spanning from monstrosities to armies. Voting was even. It was very nice to see all these weird and wonderful Chaos Dwarf creations! :hat off
Slaves and medals are coming! Should you have earned a new Veteran’s Medal (gained at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 main contests entered), please contact us and link us all your entries in all previous Golden Hat and Artisan’s Contest competitions (note: Scribe’s Contest does not count towards this purpose, but have its own Veteran Scribe’s Medal).
And now for the prizes! Coincidence and season made this the first CDO contest with more prizes than entries.
A big “thanks” to everyone who participated and voted, as well as a big thanks to Kamphre, Pyro Stick, Warcolours and Will Liam for their generous prize donations!
And that’s it for this round of Golden Hat. Now let’s see the participants’ entries in the blogs.
I thought that so many prizes and the open theme would have brought more entries, but as Fuggit said, I didn’t enter anything neither, so I can’t complain.
Capitalize on your holidays to come back stronger than ever for the next contests !
Awesome! Its my first Golden Hat and thanks for the votes. Well done to everyone who participated. I always enjoy looking at the entries. Thanks again guys Cheers
Well done everyone !

Hehe, we might also note that an abnormally high proportion of our membership is tied up in sculpting for casting.
Congrats to the other winners. Thanks for the Votes and Thank you to all involved.

I did have a thought that maybe the open entry scheme put people off. I know as soon as I read it my mind went for so many big ideas and maybe that happened to lots of people and stymied them by not being focussed on something.
I went straight to Plan A = Eureka Mini’s 10mm army on an army display board with firstly a marching scene but then being backed by a fortress wall. And Plan B something I’ve really wanted to do for a while but in 28mm. It got partly built so I’d wasted time on it instead of the display board which didn’t eventuate. Then the 10mm army wasn’t rounded out so I bought more of the Eureka Eureka Miniatures . That being 30 “Dwargons” and 3 Gorgon / Taurus Riders. I will take better photos someday soon I promise. Sorry about that.
Good work everyone, two of my votes made it, happy to see.
And I think an honorable mention should be made for Abecedars entry (which I unashamedly admit was my favorite)…I think (?) his entry was the first time ever that someone entered an ENTIRE army in a contest?
One of Skink’s proposed themes earlier this year was enslaved something (not counting Hobgoblin lackeys, because they’re middlemen slave caste), open to Slave Orcs, Slave Giants, Slave Goblins, Slave beasts chained to pull warmachines etc. Would this wider slave theme be OK, or do people who are likely to enter want a gigantic slave theme and keep it big only? (Good catch there, Uther!) Going to hammer out next contest tomorrow if possible.
