[Archive] How to craft a fun yet competitive 750pt RH list?

Nicodemus:

As the title indicates, I’m having some trouble coming up with a 750 point Ravening Hordes list.  This is just for friendly games, mind… so the #1 rule is to have fun.  This is why I don’t compete… the fun factor is gone for me, but I digress.  Fun is #1, but still being somewhat competitive against other 750pt lists is still a given as I’d like to last a full game if possible

Hero, 100 points (13.4%)

Sorcerer Hero (Gen), Lv 2, Lore of Shadow

Core, 360 points (48.1%)

10 Chaos Dwarf Warriors with Full Command (heavy armour, shield)

10 Chaos Dwarf Warriors with Blunderbusses (heavy armour)

10 Chaos Dwarf Warriors with Blunderbusses (heavy armour)

Special, 178 points (23.8%)

10 Black Orcs with Full Command (heavy armour, shield)

Rare, 110 points (14.7%)

Earthshaker

Baggronor:

I would get those units bigger; with the 8th ed melee rules, units of 10 will evaporate too quickly. I would try to get something like 18 CD Warriors with great weapons (6 wide) and maybe 14 Blorcs (7 wide so they all attack). And some Hobgoblins, as they are soooooooo cheap. Try to get 20, I say. Or archers perhaps?

Banner of Eternal Flame on the Warriors in case some beardy git shows up with a War Hydra (there’s always one ;)). Plus its Chaos Dwarfy.

Nicodemus:

Thanks for the suggestions Baggronor… I could swing down that route.
