I had my first game with IG with GWs and I liked them. I had a unit of 26 with the Prophet and BsB and they did good work, killing two mortis engines.
I ran them 7x4, mainly to get 2 extra attacks against other 5 wide 20 mm units, but I was wondering if it was worth going 10 wide. Does anyone run them that wide?

If you’ve got th BSB with em for stubborn re rolls I’d say give it a go.

The effectiveness of horde formation really depends on what you are going up against. If you never face enemy hordes you aren’t really gaining many attacks, and if you are facing anything that can regularly take down 6 models before you attack then horde doesn’t help you much at all with a unit of only 26 guys (you’ll also have issues negating Steadfast with that setup). I’d personally stick to 6-7 wide unless you bump the size of the unit to at least 30, preferably 35+ (now THAT would be a terrifying unit: 40 GW IG horde, especially buffed with Metal magic).

I pretty much use 30 with GW, FCG, BSB, horde and 3 ranks. Has worked very well!!!
