[Archive] Initiative tests and Potion of Speed

Mbutler132000:

Posted this over on Dakka and just wanted to post it here also. This a question and tactic in one. First off the question. Does the potion of speed change the character profile for initiative tests, like purple sun. If so then a purple sun or pit of shades who have us testing a level 4 on a 6+ rather than a 3+.

Tactic - this may be less tactic and just more preventative play. I play a lot of death magic and so the bane of my level 4 on Taurus is purple sun. Yes I’m testing on a 4+ but that is a lot of points to fall down a hole 50% of the time. Usually I’m stuck out in the open for one turn, after which I can pretty safely get into combat or far enough away to be safe. This leaves one turn of 6 dice purple sun and boom I’m gone. My thought is to give the level 4 the potion of speed, and drink at the start of the opponents turn where I’m flapping in the wind. I know the miscast table isn’t as brutal as it could be, but I’m not sure its worth risking on a 1 in 6 chance my lord is gone, less than that when you take into account the possible misfire. 5 points to keep this guy safe from purple sun is a steal as I see it.

good idea IMO. I’m sure it works
