Ishkur Cinderhat:
Apparently it also has something to do with the EUR / GBP exchange rate… due to the weak pound many European customers actually buy their GW stuff in the UK instead of the local shops. I for my part have saved a lot of money during the past year or so. I don’t quite think that this drastic price increase is a good strategy really though. It pisses of the UK customers and hardly makes the European customers buy more locally either.
Kera foehunter:
Seems like strange reasoning to me that if you're losing customers that the best thing to do is charge the ones you already have more.
Feels like being punished for loyalty.
wallacer
well Loyalty is kinda hash !!
i use to like there product but they need to get back to there roots
and make it affordable:hat off
Godbob and his jolly rogers:
In a GW board meeting
“Ok sice the new price increase we’ve been losing customars and sales are pummeting, so what such we do?”
“Maybe we haven’t rased the price enough”
"So thats it we will rase the prices and release another SM book"
Thats what’s happening behind our backs

Yeah, basically.
Sad but true.
I'm waiting/hoping for the pound to drop a bit more again (I loved the ~1:1 parity) so I might go on a Forgeworld binge.
So could some of youz Britts go crash a UK bank or two to scare the market a bit?

Filipicusius:
I guess you din’t crash it hard enough!
Hashut’s Blessing:
Well, I might be getting back into being able to buy ads I may be getting a job there. Income + discount = occasional spending there.
Kera foehunter:
well maybe they will give a discount to us players ??

You guys wanna view this much greater indepth thread at The Golden throne, teh 4th page gets price increases et al and draws from other sources as well. Just be mindful that the Throne is more relaxed and you MIGHT get offended by some of the language et al if you move to other sections/threads on that board:

Thanks for the warning, AT! Also, the price list could be VERY useful…
AGPO:
25% price rise in a recession on a luxury good… I’m not sure who trained GW’s economics ‘experts’ but next time I visit the bathroom I’ll take their diplomas to wipe my backside with. Seems to be all they’re fit for
Every other GW price rise I’ve watched fellow gamers drop out of the hobby. I never thought I’d reach that stage myself. No more new models for me. It’s second hand and painting my backlog. It has reached the stage where those on minimum wage have to work for longer to afford some models than they spend painting them. For non-gamers, how pointless is that?
cornixt:
There’s an increasing number of veterans who don’t need to buy more than the odd new model for their army when the book comes out. With high prices, they will do just that.

Agreed. It would seem GW is discouraging new players?

I would say that thats the category that i fall into. I have 1000's of points worth of unpainted models so i have no need to buy any new ones. When chaos dwarfs get released ill just use my old models but ill obviously buy the new book and a few heroes/sorcerors.
In my area im seeing an increasing number of people quit the game and give all their armies to their younger brothers. So i now have no one that knows the rules to play. And the kids that have all the armies now cant afford any new models or the rulebook. So im having to get them all into Avatars of war where you only need about 3 models to play.
Hashut’s Blessing:
I know all us collectors complain about the price bumps, but I think this may be the worst time. Not moaningwise, but I’ve never seen so many say “I’m no longer buying them” or “I can’t afford to buy them very often now” etc. I have quite a few models to paint, so I’m doing that. I have no income (yet ) and no way of explaining to myself why I’d buy them at such a high price. Chaos Warriors at £2 a PLASTIC model. It’s beyond ridiculous. As for AGPO mentioning the economist’s diplomas, I’d recommend not. They’re already covered in shit, lol. Besides, it’s not soft
Servius:
Looking at the US list from my local retailer… it seems to be the UK/Europe that really gets hit this time around… Probably based on Inflation there… The US the only major raises are the Starters and the 22 USD Pewter boxes. (which go to 24.75) other than that not much raise.
Kera foehunter:
come on america make the dollar worth more !!!
Baggronor:
Do what I did and start making your own:)
Kera foehunter:
what money ?? or gw discount cards
Willmark:
25%???
I’m kinda shocked that they think people are going to just line up for this, I know I’m not buying at that increase anytime soon
