[Archive] K'Daai Destroyer info

Spencer:

thx for the infos novos… these guys really don’t give a fuck about the destroyer --’

Grimbold Blackhammer:

Easy there Spencer! Let’s keep this place friendly and not profane please =)

Spencer:

Yep sorry  just bored of the way FW doesn’t care about CD players

Admiral:

Oh, but they do! Let’s keep it in perspective. FW delivered us back into an official army or something close to it for the first time in over a decade.

Although they’ve not yet given the Chaos Dwarf range the same attention for weapon options and variety of units as their 40k armies get, it is still far from an unsuccesful business venture. That means we could expect more attention later on. We’ll probably get something of a more full army list eventually if you want my guess, with models to support it.

Let’s remember FW is first and foremost a 40k bastion, and the present Horus Heresy gold rush justifies them pulling nearly all resources out of Warhammer Forge to bolster their 30k output. After that heyday has ebbed out in a few year’s time I’m sure things will settle down to normal. Then we can start expecting new releases creeping up, but in the meantime they might squeeze in the K’daai Destroyer if we’re lucky.

That's actually fair. We are definitely official now and what the hell, if I have to convert a derstroyer; all the better when I have 2 as soon as the FW model comes out. Just wish they had more resources so we can get things a bit faster... And I don't see why they cant give us even a few month radius of release plans. Hell Blizzard gives such a radius a year in advance for their games :( But alas, Im glad we have our army and that all the main comp systems and indy GTs have recognized the little devils as an official part of the community.

Cheers to that....
:cheers

Bitterman:

Well, if you’re waiting for more WF models (of any form, be it the Destroyer, CD weapon variants, or anything else), ask yourselves this…

(1) When was the last CD release from WF?
(2) How many WF releases have there been so far in 2014?
(2) How many in-development WF models were shown at the recent Open Day?

The answers (“ages ago*”, “hardly any” and “zero”) should tell you whether or not to hold your breath waiting for more WF CD stuff.

* - alright, technically, this year’s show-only model is a CD. But not only is it not generally available, it’s a single model that probably took a day to sculpt, and doesn’t fill a hole in the range. Doesn’t count for much unfortunately.

Far2Casual:

Bitterman
September 2013 (the Taur'uk).

Grimbold Blackhammer:

And let’s not forget they actually respond to questions!

Forge World does not hate us nor go out of their way to alienate their customer base.

Odatria:

Don’t forget we got the Taur’ruk at the end of last year, the Daemonsmith at Open Day in March. They’ve far from forgotten about us. If I showed a preview of a model and everyone was as down beat and insulting as most of the comments on the destroyer were I’d put back it’s release too, if not scrap it all together. The fire elemental would make a great destroyer in the meantime. Edit the feet for flames and it’s a bigger fireborn. If you prefer the bull look use a Stonehorn, Maulerfiend etc.

Heresy has obviously taken over due to the massive sales difference, which is fair enough. If you had a market stand selling apples and pears and people only bought apples, would you continue having half your stall covered in pears, or would you reduce it down, maybe even stop selling them entirely… FW has already said in replies to emails they will not shut down Warhammer forge or stop releasing models. They just clearly aren’t focusing on us right now because we’re the few and far between people who want pears not apples.

Personally I’m doing a legion army too, but everything I order for heresy has been ordered with something for chaos dwarfs too, to at least show forgeworld the demand is still there for that too.

Odatria:

I asked them again just out of interest whilst asking a rules question, this is their reply…

The K’daai Destroyer still requires work on it to complete it.  so, at this current moment in time, there is no release date for it.  We are continuing to produce and sell Warhammer Forge models.

If there is anything further we can do to assist you, or if you have any queries about the information we have requested or provided, please telephone us.

Regards,

Forge World

Rettile:

i’d prefer to know if they’re going to update the army list for the 9th edition since rumours say it’s coming out soon. I mean, our army list is good IMO even if it’s not perfect (but it’s why we love it, right?), but if 9th edition nerfs heavy shooting chaos dwarfs will struggle with the actual unit selection\point prices

Bitterman:

9th Edition is at least a year away.

MadHatter:

As long as they sell the FW models, even if they don’t come out with new stuff, they must keep the rules up to date I guess?

Bitterman:

For 6th Edition 40K, they (eventually) released PDF updates for all the units that only had 5th Edition rules. But it took almost two years for them to complete this process, just in time for 7th Edition.

I would expect them to do something similar for 9th Ed Fantasy, when the time comes. Especially if they get lots of requests to do so, which I’m sure CDO could arrange if they seemed otherwise reluctant. But then again, given that they’ve shelved Blackfire Pass and show no signs of making any further books, maybe they won’t see updated rules for their existing books as a priority. Who knows? We’ll have to wait and see. It is, after all, at least a year away yet.

Bitterman:

Weird… I posted in this thread last night, but it seems to have disappeared?

I was at the Forge World Horus Heresy Weekender for the last couple of days, and asked Edgar Skomorowski (sp?), who sculpted the Bull Centaurs, if we could expect any Bull Centaur weapon variants any time soon. After he’d recovered from laughing (“Bull Centaurs, what are they!? They don’t exist in the Horus Heresy!”), he shrugged and said something like "I don’t think I’ll be doing anything like that until this

Bitterman:

Oh, I dunno about that. I really, really like the Horus Heresy stuff and I’m quite happy they’re doing it.

I just like Chaos Dwarfs, too, is all.

Skullking:

I believe Trish Carden (? Was that her new last name, Morrison was her former name) is the only sculpter still working full time on Warhammer forge stuff. She just put out the dread saurian a month or two ago, and I’d expect she’s still churning away on more creatures from monstrous arcana. Though she’s not touched any of the CD stuff yet, At least WF still has a pulse.

Was the only sculptor full-time on WF stuff. As we learned at the FW Open Day, she's lately been working on 40K Tyranids and has been taken off WF for the foreseeable future.
