I don't like the train idea at all. I have never liked trains and especially wouldn't want one in my army. trains... ugh. what kind of army comes to the battlefield fighting alongside a train? just the new cd's I guess :~.Epic 40k Squats :cheers

Grimstonefire:
The epic squat land train actually had a section called a collossus I believe. It had a gyrocopter platform on it.
tjub:
The Collossus wasnt a part of the Land Train, it was more or less a gigantic tank (Leviathan class) with a gyrocopter ontop of it.
Grimstonefire:
Which would make an awesome CD model!

I really like the land train model and imo it’s a cool concept! :o
For me it’s not important if the land train will get good or playable rules - the look is determinative! :cheers
I want this model for my collection!

i also like the train. i might even buy it just so it can be used as an alternative for empire scenery. it can be used as some sort of “town” instead of using the chapel/tower or mansion GW made. just need to make a large mobile home to go on instead of the siege mortar
Zuh-Khinie:
Personally, I’m all for the landtrain idea…
I wasn’t at the start (though I really love the seperate pieces of it), because I think it’ll be ridiculously big/long.
However, on closer inspection, I noticed that the Skullcracker has a hook on its rear ‘bumper’ to pull the Magma Cannon that has a ring at its rear.
Having more than one locomotive that pulls your ‘engines of mass destruction’ onto the battlefield, and then performs a completely different roll out there is something I rzally like though…
If you look at the steam engine pulling the siege cannon and rocket battery, you’ll notice it also has cannons on the front (or so I think).
So basically, everything you buy and field has a purpose… you don’t just buy a ‘locomotive’, you’re buying a moving gun platform.
Also, to me, it makes perfect sense that CD’s don’t slog around the Dark Lands, but that they have some sort of automated means of transport to get from point A to B.
I never heard anyone complain about the idea of steamtrains in the Undgrin Angkor. They make perfect sense, why wouldn’t this?
wallacer:
Yup, having to walk across the darklands seems a bit rough. The fact that CD would have some kind of mechanised transport seems pretty sensible.
elrodogg:
The more I look at the new land train and it’s various components, the more I like it.
I love the raw industrial look of the cannon. Combined with the spiky elements found in the wheels and the chasis of the land train itself and I find myself saying it’s a real winner of a model.
I hope they support it with enough elements to make a full list.
Firehammer:
Personally, I don’t like the land train. The Bombard looks like a cool 40k “Death Korps of Krieg” artillery piece, but not like anything in a medieval Fantasy setting. Just industrial engineering, no daemons. The GW hell cannon and WF Skullcracker kept this balance (Magma cannon being at the limit), but I am not sold on the bombard and the British steam engine in front. Hope I can get those bighats without having to buy that Bombard, even when Warhammer Forge told that crew will not be available separately.
a.wagg:
Its really not too fantasy though. A daemonic train would be sweet!

First of all I just love the Skullcracker. It’s a tenderiser on steroids! I can already see it plowing into the enemy ranks and just imagine the look on your opponent’s face. And if it can indeed transport a siege weapon, that would be awesome.
Second the train is a great idea. I kinda expected it for regular dwarves though, many a book has mentioned steam trains connecting various vaults and outposts. So I’m totaly sold for the idea. It makes senses to make a train in such a barren wasteland and ofc arm it all the way. On a special note, the bombard wagon reminds me of the old W.W.I railway guns. Which would get rolled into place, set up and fired a deadly barrage over several kilometres.
Although the new WF models focus on steam tec instead of daemonic power, it won’t stop me from buying. In fact the only thing stopping me would be my pocketbook. :~

I believe Undgrin Angkor refers to the under Empire that the Dwarves build. Aka the tunnels connecting the various cities, outpost & mines.I never heard anyone complain about the idea of steamtrains in the Undgrin Angkor.what is Undgrin Angkor?

I don't know, I still don't like the train idea. and what about tracks? this train just goes where ever it wants? a tank would have been so much cooler.
Warhammer Forge reveals its first fantasy miniatures and makes a train which is inspired by 40K. that's no good.

Ankor is "realm" or "place" or "domain" in Khazalid, the Dwarf tongue and this is therefore the root of any Chaos Dwarf language too, so it's wholly appropriate to be using it (which I don't think we do enough on this forum!!). Ungdrin is khazalid for Underway. A totally under-represented facet of the Warhammer world in regards to the fantasy table-top setting. Why can't there be at least a few tables that take place in the Underway instead of the surface!? Could make a unique setting for Games Day 2011 in Chicago ;)I believe Undgrin Angkor refers to the under Empire that the Dwarves build. As a war engine it’s very cool, as a theme for an entire army, not so much
