[Archive] Miniature pricing in general on ebay

zobo1942:

On the subject of miniatures and their prices on ebay, is it just me, or are the prices just totally over-inflated?

I bought a ‘Dark Emissary’ model last week in a store in Kelowna, BC, Canada, for $11.99+tax CAN. I check ebay, and some guy in the US is trying to sell two of them for $40US, EACH. Seems a little crazy to me.

Do people just randomly throw stuff up there, and figure “If some sucker wants to pay this for them, they can have them!”

Can anyone shed some light on this?

some people think ‘rare’ means try and grab a crazy amount for it.

No matter what miniture i sell on ebay they all start at 99p, people always bid them up that way. and it give s the oppertunity for someone to get a bargain if it’s not a cool as i think it is.

some people are simply after money and a quick profit.

Well, I’m going to watch that auction for the Dark Emissary model, and see what it goes for. I’m tempted to do the same thing, if it means I could more than triple my investment with zero effort!

I am currently collecting Hobgoblins and i tend to agree that the prices are inflated.

Specially with SWSNBN who has hobgoblins on there that have been there for upwards to 3 years and never have they been bought, I have offered generious values for them but still she says no.

It’s just mad.
