[Archive] Monster Hobbies back in a real building again since the 2013 Flood!

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Hi everyone!

I know I haven’t been on here in a long time, but I’ve been busy with moving, packing, building and getting things ready for business in my new location. We are now located in High River’s Industrial Zone right behind The Hitchin’ Post restauraunt and above the Transmission Shop. We are on the second level of the building, safe from any future flooding…unless we get 12 feet of water, that is. So here’s some new pictures of the new building.

This is the first time I’ve had my store in a “Brick and Mortar” location in 9 months since the Flood wiped out 80% of the town!

The upcoming Newspaper as to get people back to the store…

The actual store-front itself. Directly below me is the DR’s Office. Mike’s Transmission is a few doors down on the ground level.

We have Conan Comics and many more donated from Treasure Chest in Lethbridge, Alberta.

1/72nd scale and 1/35th scale military models.

Monster Model Kits and those hand grabbing coin banks. I want to put another long shelf just above those bottom model kits.

A 4’x6’ Wargaming table.

Our Games Workshop wall.

Some Role Playing Game books donated again from Treasure Chest. They donated a lot of Magic Cards, comic Books, RPG books like Dungeons and Dragons, and collector cards.

The building is between 1200 Sq Ft and 1500 sq ft. Hardwood floors and very nice!

Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Abecedar:

Big Question…

Is it Waterproof?

Bloodbeard:

Guess it has to be a pretty high flood for it to reach 2nd floor.

Congratulations to you, must be good to have a base again.

Yodrin:

Congrats with you knew shop. I am really happy for you buddy, and hope you will do well and sell like a Monster;)

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Thanx guys!

Today I am going to review and develop some guide-lines from the Games-Workshop England’s web site and attempt to put together a club/league guideline for my store. I want to run the future Monster Hobbies like a club that sells hobby and game items instead of a hobby shop/gaming store. I am thinking that, with the space and available table room, that I could reach a better store potential than I originally did in the past.

Admiral:

Best of luck with this new start!

Sticklander:

Those new plans sound great! It’s good to have a store which encourages participation in the hobby, more than just buying into it.

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Thank you guys! Our first “Club” meeting is this Thursday.
