Tarrakk Blackhand:
Hi everyone!
I was looking at the Games Workshop Mordeheim section of their web site and I thought it looked interesting.
I also downloaded their free PDF’s.
I’m wondering if anyone plays this game and what it’s like as compaired to the old Warhammer : Skirmish and what it’s like in general.
Also, can Chaos Dwarfs play in the Mordeheim world, or is it limited to just what’s in the rulebook?
Please give me your thoughts and impressions. Thanx!
Baggronor:
Its basically Fantasy Necromunda. I love Mordheim, the campaigns can be a lot of fun.

I can’t remember if Chaos Dwarfs had an official warband. Should be pretty easy to make a list for them though. I would take a Sorcerer as the Warband leader, then have options for Bull Centaur and Immortal characters, then Warriors, Blunderbussmen (0-2, Blunderbusses were horrific in Mordheim :cheers) Sneaky Gits and Black Orcs. Would rock

Its similar to Warhammer Skirmish, but better, more detailed. It can also be very, very funny, like the time when my mate’s necromancer got flying kicked by a Wooden Man puppet and his injury roll declared he was now subject to fear of the model type that injured him: we decided trees now caused fear for him
Thommy H:
Mordheim came before Warhammer: Skirmish and, actually, was the basis for it, rather than the other way 'round. Issue 1 of Word of Hashut contains rules for a Chaos Dwarf warband in Border Town Burning, which is a fan-made expansion for Mordheim. There’s also plenty of Mordheim-related content around the forum anyway.
Tarrakk Blackhand:
Kool guys! Thanx for some feedback!
I wonder if I can get some of my regular players into it or not.
@ Thommy - I’ll look through the old WoH issues to see.
Fallen246:
Mordheim is actually what got me into Warhammer itself.
It’s alot more fun if everyone plays for the flavour of their warbands rather than just power… As it is really easy to powergame every list, but it makes them all look the same.
maelzch:
Mordheim is brilliant, I’m currently heading towardsplaying that a lot more than fantasy.
LumpinCroop:
Mordheim is a great deal of fun. If you like smaller scale stuff like Necromunda or Warhammer Skirmish, you’ll like this a great deal.
My brother and I introduced our old gaming group to Mordheim a couple years back and ran a campaign. Fun times. Playing actually got a few of us back into Warhammer Fantasy.

Same here. Sisters of Sigmar all the way! Best bit about this game is it's just as enjoyable but heaps faster than a warhammer battle because it's easy to play multiple players in the one senerio. Making home round robins a whole lot faster
I have also used it to set up battle senarios based on who got to the objectives first etc, plus the leveling up in this one is fun and because bands are small it doesn't get out of hand and they are capped at a certain piont anyway
Anonymouse:
Played it for a while: brilliant game due to it’s small size and the nerve-wracking tension: you’re going to think twice of sending your warband’s leader into the thick of combat after you’ve spent weeks advancing him, kitting him out with good weapons, armor and skills. Better let the mercenaries or the youngbloods get a piece of the action.
Time of Madness:
Played it for a few years and loved it. Unfortunately my group of players prefers to be play warhammer rather then mordeim. To be honest blood bowl seems more popular around here then mordheim.

Great game!
Occasionally we return to this classic in my gaming group. There’s some issues in the rules I’ve understood, and the lists can lead to severe imbalance.
The Dwarfs were completely impossible to deal with once “levelled up”. And I still remember with annoyance a certain greenskin spell that’s powerful beyond anything in the game. At least that’s how it felt. Was almost guaranteed to kill of a model each time cast.
Sousunou:
Very fun game to play.
It is true that you will always have funny or tense moments playing it. Playing against HB, my Druchi cold-one ate one of his warriors before being shot… Then the rest of my warband got captured by the Gaoler. Was a sad day
Its well worth picking it up as although there are special models, you can use normal models you own. Plus, if you have an army you play against friends it can add another dimension to the games, gluing them all together.
Ronshank:
My sad day was when I maxed my warband out the first time. Got boring and then I got slaughtered and started again.
I’ve been catching up on all The Word of Hashut’s and am going to give the CD version a try soon. I’ll try to remember to put up a battle report if I remember. I haven’t finished up my conversions yet but I can play Mordhiem with what I do have. It will be interesting to see what differences the fan rules make.
