Slaver_of_Zharr:
hi guys, im trying to build up a CD army of my own (please bear in mind that i have very limited funds so i need to use as many points as possible for as few as models, im not aiming to win battles here, just build an army, though winning would be nice:))
i am planning on bying BFSP then perhaps a boxed set of dwarf warriors or thunderers and a hellcanon (for no other reason than i think its the coolest model in the game, though i know many people will disagree, i’l use it as a earthshaker)
this is the army i have planned, please give me your feedback as i want my army sorted before i by anything (thats those limited funds, i cant afford, pun intended:cheers, to make mistakes):
Chaos dwarf Hero-General, Armour of Ghazrakh, Great wepon-94pts
Level 1 Sorcerer-2 dispel scrolls-115pts
hobgoblin hero-light armour, Guantlets of Bhazrakk the cruel, Great weapon-66pts
15 warriors-Blunderbusses-180pts
25 warriors-Full command-255pts
40 hobgoblins-80pts
10 hobgoblins-bows-50pts
10 hobgoblins-bows-50pts
Earthshaker-110pts
please feel free to critisize, and thanks in advance:)
Uzkul Werit:
Numbers look a little thin on the ground. I’d consider dropping the Mage and using the points for more Warriors/Hobgoblins.
metro_gnome:
maybe not the whole mage… but defintiely switch the chalice for a dispel scroll…
since 7th came in the chalice has become a soley offensive magic item… using it for defense is too risky…
i’d also drop the gauntlets… also unecessarily risky unless surrounded by hobgoblins…
combine the two warrior units to a solid 25US block and drop the great weapons…
i’d drop the armor and commands from the hobbies and run them at 30 strong naked…
with the pointz left over you could run your spider riders as hobbie wolfboyz with light armor shields and a musician…
or splurge and get a unit of 25 orc boyz…
Slaver_of_Zharr:
at the moment i dont think that more hobgoblins are an option, unless they are armed with bows, though i will certainly take the warriors suggestion.
the chalice i will probaly swap for one or two dispel scrolls, as they are magic items on a single model i can afford to change my mind about them
the gauntlets i was planning on using to make my hero S7, but i can see your point about being to dangerous, S7 hits on your own models every second round of combat (or with my luck, a lot more:)) is rather nasty
and uzkul, the number are supposed to be thin on the ground, i dont have enough money for a horde
would an acceptable option be to drop the light armour and command from the hobos, and the guantlets from the hero, and get a hobo hero, perhaps with the hammer of hasut?
oboudd:
You said you had limited fund’s so aim for a warband sized army(500pts).
Plus don’t forget hidden cost’s green stuff,paint’s,brushes,additional model’s,2 sheet’s of blank paper(for the army list),orc’s & goblin’s army book.Well thats just a start ohh I forgot glue and modiling tool’s.
Xander:
Those are things that people in this hobby generally already have already purchased…
Slaver_of_Zharr:
with the exception of the OnG book i already have all the things on your list oboudd (and you’will notice that i dont have any OnG units in my army). and why should i go for a 500 points army when with the BfsP+one or two other boxed sets i can have a 1000pt army, im not in a particular hurry so i have time for a lot of conversions, its only money that im lacking and i have enough to gradually collect everything i need(i’m planning to start with the BfSP and build my army up from there)
also i have edited my army list, please tell me if you think it will work
metro_gnome:
well i wasnt suggesting more hobbie infantry… tho that would be good…
i was suggesting you use the forest gobbo spider riders from BfSP as hobbie wolf boyz…
as for the list… i think it is better… im not sure about this hobbie hero tho…
he might be a better candidate for gauntlets, GW and heavy armor… he weighs in at less points and hitz harder…
and who cares if your hobbies die… thats what they are for… a hobbie unit with S7 hitz comes as a nasty shock…
pointz saved could get you the extra 5 hobbie bowmen required to split them into two groups of 10…
these guyz are more effective MSU… one on each flank…
Slaver_of_Zharr:
i was actually considering dropping a dispel scroll for 5 more hobos with bows, but your idea sounds better (and in any case, ive only ever played as CDs once, using my Vampire Count models as “count as” CDs so anyone thats played them more than once would be more experienced than me). i think i’l take your advice:)
