[Archive] Naming your C.D.figures

Kera foehunter:

Do you name all your figures, or just the general and heros

what about there groups they fight in.

Fridericus_Rex:

Well, I am a freak so I have to give all my figures a name. All figures.

My Ogre General calls “Wraghzack Bonecrusher”, one of my empire Soldiers “Hagen von Thronje.”

So all my figures got their name. What is with you?

FR

furrie:

I name none of my figures, not even my charaters, the only times I give them some sort of name then it is just something like birdhead, for my champion of tzeentch incase I use more champion of tzeench so I now who is who

Snotling:

yep, sometimes. it brings a game more character. some chars have allways the same name but most time, i name them spontaniously like… “oh no, you killed… ehm… willard banghead!”

why do you ask?

Willmark:

Snot, Great to have you back man.

I name my heroes and wizards, sometimes I name my champions in a unit if the have preformed particularily well after a few battles.

Kera foehunter:

Well i did know !! i thought it a guy thing!!! i always went by that a cute figure.

or look that one cool. But maybe i need to get bolder and name these figures.

Hashut’s Blessing:

Sometimes I give models a nickname and then some I give full names and some I use as characters and then give them a name for the battle which may change for the next… I do often name units for whatever list I’m making…

Vexxus:

I am totally excited to name models and such, in fact I enjoy mocking up a history or storyline for each!

I have not yet done this with CD’s since I feel a bit too uneducated, or at least I need a better feel for “proper” CD names before I can come up with my own that fit the theme and history of the race. Orcs and Goboos I found easy because of their rich history and armybooks, but CD’s have no such luxuries.

I remember someone a while back mentioning a website that had a dwarf name creator/interpreter… could anyone link that, as well as any other resource that might be useful for naming?

If there is no solid foundation, I will likely look to Dwarf books instead, then try to use that same type of naming system, but darker and more twisted or sinister…

Very interested in any help all of you can provide on this

wallacer:

All of my Heroes, units and war machines have names.

It would be weird not to…

Sojourn:

I figure I will name my figures as they are made… and since my memory sucks, I may write it on the underside of the base

I create connections to things easily, so they will all need a name

speedygogo:

I usually name my characters but not individual guys in units.  Since the last couple of armies that I have been played are all scratch made, I tend to name just about everybody.  Right now, the army that I am working on is the Ninja Turtles as Clan Eshin led by the evil shredder.  The foot soldiers are like chinese water torture though.  I’m still working on them but only have a little over a month left before tourney time.  Can I do it?  Yes I can.

WarplockMonkey:

Well…i’m working on a Chaos Dwarf warband, and i plan to give ALL my models nicknames!

I have already christened my slaver (which will be unveiled for GHVI ;)) ‘Pinch’, and my first Hobgoblin ‘Munch’

Kera foehunter:

So lets here some of these names

Geckilian:

I usually don’t name my figures unless I’m particularly proud of them. naming upwards of 400 Chaos Marines would become incredibly tedious, for example. However with small group, like my 25-strong Necromunda gang, my Undead Mordheim warband and of course my Chaos Dwarf Blood Bowl team, everyone gets a name.

My current favourite name is Fhardrakk Freezehand for the friesian Bull Centaur in my BB team.

AGPO:

I name my major characters and give them fluff. I also name those that have performed well in games or have ammased a story

Vasquez:

Well, I don’t play CDs myself, but I’ll tell you 'bout my other armies. I have named all the figures in my Witch Hunters (40k) army besides the squads. And I’ve written some fluff for my psyker as well  My fantasy army (VC) have no names so far… Except the zombies… they’re all called Bob and their champions are called Big Daddy (Romero-fans will understand  )
