[Archive] New Castellan/Daemonsmith

Vex:

Taking a little break from my Hosts of Slaanesh army I decided to create this little abomination of a Chaos Dwarf. I got him 2 years or so ago from ebay and he didn’t arrive in the best condition, his weapon and crown thingy broke in the mail so I originally decided to turn him into a statue or something.

Anyway there was a thread talking about Chaos Dwarfs who worship the other Chaos gods so liking the idea of having some CD’s in my Chaos army I decided to make this guy to lead them.

Couldn’t find his right hand so I searched my bitz box and couldn’t find a suitable replacement so I clipped the foot of a spare seeker. I need to clean him up a little and maybe add a flame or something coming out of his mutated arm.

Edit: Also I’m not sure about a giant axe, if I could have found his right hand then fluff wise I was going to pass him off as some kid of executioner, but since he could go either way from being a castellan or a daemonsmith I’ll leave it up to you guys to decide where I should go with him.

Edit 2: Alright fixed the size

Edit 3: Okay here he is with a more appropriate sized weapon.

Admiral:

I like it a lot! Neat choice of mutation. Would you please like to resize the image, or at least make a habit out of it in the future? That’d be much appreciated.

Done

Admiral:

Besides, I’d personally go for a smaller axe head, but if you like the look of it, then don’t hesitate to keep it as is. Maybe bulk up the slim handle with some decorative green stuff rings at even intervals to make it look less flimsy? Or sculpt leather wrappings on the handle?

Yeah like I said my original idea was to make him look like an executioner, the daemon prince axe was the only thing that I had in my bitz box at the moment. I'm having second thoughts about keeping the axe because 1) it doesn't look right with that handle and 2) with the mutated arm he looks a little more like a spell caster than a combat hero so I may swap the axe head for something that looks a little more like a staff or sceptre.

Admiral:

Well, nothing to stop a spellcaster being a combat-capable character as well, particularly a Chaos Dwarf. But by all means go for a staff if you like that better.

Vex:

Okay I removed the daemon prince axe head and replaced it with the one from the chaos warriors chariot. Looks a lot better imo. Will get pics up soon.

Okay before I go prime him, flames or no flames?

Admiral:

Do you mean flames dancing about his armour or weapon, or perhaps flames shooting out from his mutated hand? You can’t go wrong with sorcerous flames if it’s a spellcaster. Maybe even a small lick of flame on his base. You could even sculpt in a few daemonic faces in the fires.

Abecedar:

Or did you mean some flames around his hand / arm coming out of his right sleeve?

Admiral:

There’s a great image in Tamurkhan of a flaming Daemonsmith. And CDO’s very own Hunter has drawn a great illustration of a burning Sorcerer-Prophet for this story. It’s part and parcel of the CD mythos.

Vex:

Yeah I mean fire coming out of his mutated arm. I may add a little furnace to the top of his hat also.

Admiral:

It would look good. Go for it!

I agree.
