[Archive] Obscure Chaos Dwarf miniature

wallacer:

I remember hearing a while ago about a normal Dwarf miniature that was released with a Chaos Star on it.

Does anyone by any chance have a picture of this miniature or a link to where it is on Stuff of Legends? (i’ve checked but can’t find it)

cheers,

Raymond

Xander:

Do you mean the one with the hat? That has the star on top of the hat? I own that model, heh.

wallacer:

Actually I’m not sure what one I mean

I just remember hearing a while back that there was a Dwarf released amongst the normal Dwarf line of figures that had a Chaos symbol on it somewhere.

AGPO:

Was it a dwarf or chaos dwarf?

wallacer:

Was it a dwarf or chaos dwarf?

AGPO
From what I remember of it it was released as a normal Dwarf but actually has a Chaos Symbol on it. Which means that it may have been a Chaos Dwarf which was mistakenly released as a normal Dwarf or it may just actually be a normal Dwarf which for some bizarre reason has a Chaos Symbol on it.

Xander, do you by any chance have a picture of it?

There is the Runepriest from the older Anvil of Doom who has a Chaos Star on the front and back of his hammer

wallacer:

Thanks Mike. That could be the one…

Xander, is that the figure you mentioned above or are you talking about something different?

Xander:

Mine wields a flail of sorts, and has a Star on the top of his head. I will try to get a pic.

wallacer:

Xander
Thanks, Xander, you're a legend :cheers

wallacer:

I’ve been having a hunt through SoL and the only ones I could find that even vaguely matched your description were these guys:

AGPO:

I love the bottom pic. I may have to try and aquire one of those for my vintage longbeards

Xander:

This guy has a Chaos Star on top of his hat.

cornixt:

It’s worth noting that a chaos star signified magic back then, rather than just chaos. Many wizards had one on their staff.

Uzkul Werit:

The star most likely just represented the eight winds of magic. And the secobd mini looks like he’s armed with a sock.

Thanks Xander.
I realise it most likely just symbolises the winds of magic rather than an innate desire to enslave the world, but it does mean that he could make a passable Chaos Dwarf (which is good, since I'm running out of non-big hat figures to bulk out my units with).

Traitor King:

but… why would a dwarf have a symbol of magic? dwarfs dont use/like magic…

cornixt:

Maybe it is a special rune that absorbs magic.

wallacer:

Maybe he’s just a young Dwarf rebelling against the Dwarven hostility to magic

Seriously though, it’s an interesting question. It doen’t seem as though he is actually a Chaos Dwarf - he just doesn’t look Chaotic.

Most likely the figure designer just thought it looked nice, I guess.

hal:

I never knew about this mini before.

It’s cool spotting things like this, just like the Mordheim zombie with the batman cape painted on in the rulebook (whoever did that is a genius).

Canix:
