[Archive] Printed WoH: Interest **Updated**

MadHatter:

I’ve brought the subject up with Nicodemus and Admiral and want to check with the community if there is interest in a printed version of Word of Hashut?

*Absolutely non-profit with a slight loss on my behalf to guarantee this, all reciepts etc. will be public.

*Printed full-color magazine on glossy paper

So… There are some loose ends and its on a if and how level, authors will have to give their okays, theres might be legal issues etc. just checking if there is an interest?

:hat off

Update

Magcloud has print on demand @

$0,2 per page, at 75 pages, $15

$1 for Perfect Binding service, saddle stitch something

Postage to Sweden was $4,75.

Magcloud Option 1

So we would weight in, for a 75 page full color glossy high definition luxury quality CDO Chaos Dwarf magazine, at $16 plus postage and its print on demand meaning no work with risks and distribution.

Magcloud Option 2

Ordering 20 or more copies would give a 25% discount aswell, if someone where to distribute them.

One could also do both

I would volounteer to print 20 copies of the coming issue and sending them out to those interested in the discount, those copies landing at $12.

…Are we talking about new issues or a print of the old ones? Because if that the case I can’t see what the point is… That said, a printd WoH magazine would look totally awesome!!!

Malorndk:

While I like the idea I think the Warhammer hobby is expensive enough as it is. So I will save my money on this one, but I do understand if others want it printed. Would look ace

Bloodbeard:

I haven’t read all the old WoHs. Don’t really like reading pdf’s.

But when my maturnity leave ends, I plan on printing all of them on my work. Then it’s free.

Good idea MadHatter. Not sure there is market for a hundred printed magazines though.

Abecedar:

I’ll add that I’m OK with printed PDF’s (from work as well). I really do think they’d be good but having done that sort of thing before the expence is a bit to great.

tjub:

I would by, regardless if its the old ones or a new…

Well it would just be trying to print the coming issue from the PDF Admiral puts together :)

Quite understandable!

The best deal I found per issue was 100 copies at $2,5 each, then postage from there to here. $5 is me calculating high hehe... Just brainstorming this atm though... there might be other options. The best thing would be if there was a service where one could order them printed on demand and get them sendt home, would also save me from investing the money for 100 printed issues haha

This will be absolutely non profit, I personally would love to have printed magazine quality copies myself. The WoH material is just awesome.

tjub
So would I :cheers

MadHatter:

Theres this print on demand option called MagCloud http://www.magcloud.com

Perhaps its a good option?

Someone responsible for the magazine would need to upload it and set the rules alternatively delegate responsibility though… Id personally order every issue printed if I could.

TheHoodedMan:

The mag is really absolutely amazing. Actually like white dwarf should be. I would definitely buy some.

Dînadan:

I’m on the fence about this; personally I prefer the feel of paper copies over PDFs and generally find them easier to read, but on the other hand I don’t have the space to store issues and just chucking the mag out after I’m finished doesn’t sit right with me (especially as it’s not a freebe). Also (probably a case of me being dense/overlooking something obvious), when I looked earlier I couldn’t find the older issues so can’t comment on whether the size/quality would justify the cost.

They're here, though one or more of the issues can't be accessed for some reason. Broken links or something like that.

TheHoodedMan:

give it away to someone else? Also ask this specifically of the one you donate it to.
Thats a great idea anyway, spreading the word of hashut :hat.

MadHatter:

I registered on magcloud just to access the pricelists and for full color, glossy pages, full color uv protected front and all the luxuries in the world the last issue of WoH would go for

$0,2 per page, at 75 pages, $15
$1 for Perfect Binding service, saddle stitch something

plus postage

TheHoodedMan:

In my opinion thats too expensive compared to home prints despite of the high quality content.

Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware I'm the only Chaos Dwarf player in my local area; and in my local club there tends to be little interest in second-hand mags unless there's a specific article that they're after. :/

As magazines are concerned its actually cheap in comparision! Id like the extra option to get it in printed form and would get all issues at $16 myself... Just look at the work put into the WoH project! However its up to the staff wether or not to set up a magcloud account or delegate the responsibility :)

You are right I have to reconsider this :hat off.

Dînadan:

I haven’t bought a magazine for a while, but I’m fairly sure $16 is steep for a mag; $16 is ~£10 and most mags are cheaper than that I believe (or at least UK mags are - not 100% surf though so another UK based member will have to back me up).

Bitterman:

I’d be interested, but I’d be amazed if you could get it done at a practical price point.

Updated the first post.

Theres a way to get a 75 page full color glossy magazine done at $12 each plus postage. I think thats the best that can be done really...
