[Archive] Putting LoTR Moria Goblins on WHFB 20mm bases?

jbrown1214:

I like the way the models look, and would like to use them for my hobgoblin contingent of my Chaos Dwarf army…but do they fit on 20mm bases? Do they rank up well? I assume goblins (and chaos dwarves) go on smaller bases? I’m only used to big ol’ Chaos Warriors on the larger infantry base.

Check out the models here

Thanks,

Jason

Thommy H:

20mm is right for Hobgoblins, but these models will be too small I think. They’re a slightly smaller scale than Warhammer figures and since Goblins are smaller than Hobgoblins anyway, they’ll probably look tiny.

Bolg:

Back in the day that you were not allowed to mix LotR on a GW Warhammer tournament I put 2 in my big units of gobbos (fight the system!!). And I must agree, they look to tiny.

But then, using LotR orcs as hobgoblins will work very well indeed.

wallacer:

The Moria Goblins are about the same height as GW Goblins, but they’re a lot scrawnier.

You probably could use them as regular Goblins, but you’d want them in units of their own, since they’d look weird mixed in with GW ones.

They’d make much better Gnoblars.

I don't know. Could be cool if they were mixed in height, use some regular ones and then the LoTR ones.

Always a bit odd that everything is the same height IMHO.

Zanko:

In my opinion all the LotR modells are much too small and flimsy!

Also the styling isn’t compatible to the “normal” GW minis - I might be oldfashend but it’s my view!

jbrown1214:

Normal as in the old “large hat” models, or the new FW ones? Or both?

Grimstonefire:

I’d say the style is not ‘normal’ for the old big hat models more than the FW ones.

The moria goblins are 19-20mm tall.  Incase you were wondering. I can’t say how tall the regular gobbos are.
