Hello! i just finished my raider, my last dark eldar piece, and it wont stay on its flying base stand. I made a special part out of green stuff, yet, still no effect. it limps right over. I dont want to glue it to its base, because it makes the model more fragile. Any ideas?
I would drill a hole in the flying stand and put a metal rod into it… GW/all flying stands have a tendency for the peg to snap off anyways, so you won’t be losing much.
Drill a matching hole for the metal rod into the vehicle itself.
Or buy another flying base or two and add those. Alternatively, just use extra “pole” parts to add stability where necessary. Regardless, let us know how it ges
I use magnetex rods glued to the plastic bases and glue a neodym magnet to the bottom of the flyer, works a treat and the base can come off for transporting.Costs about £5 for the magnetex set and about £3 for the magnets off Ebay which is enough for over twenty flyers :hat
Kulgur has it right. In my dark eldar army I have 10 raiders, 3 ravengers, and Aserbal Vect and I used it on all of them. Slowly make the hole bigger untill the raider fits about half way down the pole of the flying base. It sits lower which looks cool becuase it is only supposed to skim the ground, and it make the base more stable because it is not so top heavy. It is also good becuase the base comes off easily so you can still back it up without too many problems.
If you look around there are companies that make the flying stands completely in pewter they are awesome… you can also simply use a good 6 or 7 penny nail and snip off the hammer point and use it in place of the plastic stand.
