[Archive] Random rules idea

Grimstonefire:

I’ve put this here as I’m mainly asking if it is from any warhammer army, but I’m thinking of it in a chaos dwarf sense.

A random rules idea I have been considering is that each time a character loses a wound their strength goes up by 1.

Is there anything in warhammer like this already?

It wouldn’t have to be a special rule, it could be a magic weapon. The whole ‘that which doesn’t kill us makes us stronger’ idea.

Basically I want to know whether it would be too unbalanced or not.

Closest thing is an item from HoC that gave you an attack for each wound you took.

Its effectiveness would depend on how easily you can gain back wounds, if at all.

Yeah, Pendant of Slaanesh, from Hordes of Chaos. The classic combo was the pendant and Blade of Blood, thus allowing him to gain a wound every time he caused a wound (upon passing a strength test), and every time he took a wound he gained an attack. From back in the day, when WoC were quality.
Basically I want to know whether it would be too unbalanced or not.
As noted, it depends if the character in question can gain back wounds, and also how many wounds he has to start with, what his attacks are like, whats his mobility, etc.

Hypothetically then if were an option for Chaos Dwarf characters (including the CD lord) with no magic items choice for regeneration of any sort.  Possibly as part of a spell or prayer of some kind, but I could put an upper cap on it at S7?

I don’t think that ability would be too overpowered. It clashes with the common strategy of not wanting characters to get hurt and it’s not like high strength attacks are uncommon.
