Hey guys - as I mentioned in the introduction thread, I’m just about to start a Chaos Dwarves army for Age of Sigmar. The plan is to flesh out the main body of the force with Forge World sculpts, then maybe add some characters from Russian Alternatives to add some variation.
However, I was hoping some of you guys could help with a slight dilemma I’m facing… Are the Forge World and Russian Alternatives models a good size match?
I’m particularly interested in the Command Group 2 set, so if anyone owns these and some Infernal Guard models it would be a great help to see a shot of these figures side by side.
I have a single Russian Alternative greatweapon CD and a single Forge World CD at home. I’ll take a picture of them side by side and upload.
Are you aware of the Lost Kingdoms Indiegogo running at the moment? Perhaps you should consider some of those as well, if you are doing a large army investment soon.
Thanks for the responses. Yeah, the ones I’m considering come with a piper. I also think the banner-bearer would make for a great Battle Standard-bearer, and the champion, well, that guy speaks for itself.
Mind, I’ve gotta say, the blunderbuss set also caught my eye.
I’ll check out those other figures, Bloodbeard. Much appreciated.
Rozmax (A CDO Member and the sculptor for RA) occasionally posts shots of his work im progress sculpts with forge world chaos dwarves for scale, here are two of his characters along side FW Chaos Dwarves:
Now I’m a huge Russian Alternative fan, but as every one else is saying Lost Kingdoms Chaos Dwarves are really cool looking and have a more… I guess modern style to them (wouldn’t be my choice over RA but they are damn cool). The companies owner has also been in direct contact with us here on the forum and has even made several products based on our requests and recommendations!

Thanks for linking those. I really like both lots of sculpts, actually. I think I may have to add a boy of both.
A little off topic here, but what's the best way to run CD in Age of Sigmar? Are warmachines a must? I'mean better bulking out on close combat fighters or shooty units, things like that...
I really like the look of the Skullcracker model (I think that's its name), although, if I'm going to spend that sort of money, I'd rather buy something that's good in the game.

What kind of AoS do you mean? The pointless one where you just move any number of miniatures into the middle of the table and pretend to have fun? Doesn't matter in those kind of games. Not sure if the points for CDs are released yet.
You might consider playing "9th Age" or "Kings of War", both having better rules in general and special CD rules. In Warhammer times, warmachines made CDs so competitive, that in friendly games you restricted the number of machines.
Also keep in mind that Russian Alternative has two types of CD troops: The Great Weapon troops are Elite and intentionally larger than the handweapon plus shield ones.

Nah, that type of game doesn't interest me at all. I'll be using points. Forge World released a points list for the Legion of Azgorh.

The problem is finding people to play with. I uses to go to a club near to where I live, but, to be honest, the majority of the members weren't my bag at all.

As to the RA great weapons vs RA normal troops i’ve found they dont look jarring, the great weapons where just sculptured to represent bigger more muscular dudes their not a different scale per say. I highly recommend both units their awesome sculpts.
To be quite honest, I was surprised when I compared the Daemonsmiths against the Ironsworn - they’re massive in comparison!
Looking forward to picking up some of the RA stuff, now. Gonna have another look at the Indiegogo models as well. I was really impressed with some of their line.

You'd be better off starting a new thread with that question, with an
