[Archive] Scribe's Contest IV - Voting

Bloodbeard:

Welcome to the voting thread for the 4th Scribe’s Contest writing competition, sponsored by Ravenswood!

"As all dwarven kind the Dawi Zharr has a strong tradition of honouring the past. Myths, sagas and grudges can be found in written down on ancient stone tablets, told in cruel voices over dark beer and seen pictured on temple walls.

But for the Dawi Zharr prophesies and visions of the future are held in high regard as well.

Twisted, dark and cryptic are the words of the seers and oracles. Some are cast away as mere madness, but overs are saved and studied by acolytes of Hashut. Studied over decades and centuries in order to find clues about what’s to come.

Yet nobody, not even the strongest among the Dawi Zharr would see the End coming in time and no one knew for sure what would follow."

How to vote:
Please submit 3 numbers as votes by sending a PM to Scribe account (a special account all Staff members can access). We had 8 entries this time, which means each entrant will receive 8 slaves once the winners have been announced. There will be Gold, Silver, and Bronze Scribe’s Contest medals to be awarded!

You are not allowed to vote for your own entry.

Each (more or less) anonymous entry is numbered ranging from 1 to 8. There is no need to specify which one you think is 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Simply list the three that you like we will do the rest.

Voting will close at 11:59 PM July 31st, 2015 CEST (Central European Summer Time). Once the votes are tallied we will post the results.

Subject Matter: Prophecy - Rebirth and Resurrection

Thanks for supporting Scribe’s Competition gentlemen. This is some very nice prophecies. Good luck! May Hashut bless you with many votes.

Good call. I've read them as they've come in and again this morning. I really think this smaller format works very well for a competition like this.

I would however have liked to see even more entries this time around - again because of the limited word count.

I think a lot of these carry some great "bridge references" between 8th and AoS - that's nice.

TheHoodedMan:

Thank you for organizing the contest and to all participants for their entries. Great to read! My votes are in.:cheers

Dînadan:

Votes are in. They are all very good, but a couple leapt out at me so it was only the third vote the others had to vie for.

@ Bloodbeard: maybe it was because of the low word count that there weren’t more? Don’t know about others but it was hard to get something done in that allotment that I was happy with. If the limit had been 500 I could have got something better in.

Axtklinge:

Some nice fluff pieces there.
Not an easy choice, to pick the top three.

Cheers,
A.

+1. I had the same impression. So i took my time and read them a couple of times over several days.

As to the size, I think varying the size from smaller to larger gives the Scribes contest more depth of possibilities.
Just like if we are doing a single model for a Golden Hat or a whole unit.
For this one, if it had a 250 count, I wouldn't have had to trim/edit my entry. But with any of them I think once we actually start writing we can all find more words than we thought. Its the starting idea that is hard.

Good idea, I will do the same and read them tonight.
I already gave them all a quick once over, and naturally fell in love with one right off the bat. But I want to sit down with a cup of hot tea and read them tonight. Looking forward to it actually :cheers

Remember that voting closes tomorrow!

This contest is filled with real quality entries. It’s hard to choose for the voting! :cheers

Just lovely theme and entries. Well handled contest and flavour text, well-written pieces that are a collection of wealth unto themselves. Very inspirational! Won’t miss the next writing competition.

15 minutes left to cast votes. Come on guys.
