Forgefire:
Hey all. Recently looking through all awesome nice army blogs i have been extremly tempted to start collecting a small force of my own as i have some friends that started up again. Last time i played was for a short while like 10 years ago.
So im wondering what is the most commonly accepted army book or list?
And what should i get for a beginners core force (say 800-1500 points)
And is there a cheaper alternative to greenstuff if sculpting charachters from scratch?
Sorry for the noob questions! :hat off

For what my experience is so far:
The book is called Tamurkhan, it was from forgeworld and now oop, you can find the pdf online with the chaos dwarves at the end of it.
1.5k is nice, i played few matches with that.
I remember having in play:
4 bulls
20 warriors
2 rockets
20 hobgoblins
1 sorcerer
the alternative for sculpt i guess you find a great one here:

they are spanish so or another EU like me and you it is fine.
They have great items for extremely good prices. I’m waiting now for some bluestuff and milliput from them.

Welcome.
Legally (as in what GW will accept) atm the only accepted list in the one from the Tamurkhan book by Forge World. However, if you’re playing 6th or 7th ed then you’ll want to hunt down the Ravenning Hordes list.
If you’re just playing with your mates at home then the two main fan books that I’m aware of are the one by Tommy H of this site and (which I personally use) the one from the Warhammer Armies Project.

Just saw these and since you are from Sweden as well they might be interesting? Not mine and Ive no idea who the seller is but at the moment its a really good price. http://gamla.tradera.com/finding.mvc/itemlisting?ftgnr=1227962
TheHoodedMan:
At the moment clearly book Tamurkhan.
The book is a good investment in every respect. Great stories, images, campaign rules and the legion of azgorh army list.
How this book can be used from July in “official” events is not known yet for sure sadly.
Forgefire:
Thanks all lots of good information! I will try to get my hands on some dwarfs then!
Coolt Tjub har aldrig sett cd där förut!

There’s no shameful noob questions. Except “Is that Starwars or Startrek?”.
FWs tamurkhan is the official list. Should be usable in 9th like all other armybooks.
Greenstuff is best for sculpting miniatures. But greenstuff acts differently from brand to brand.
GWs greenstuff costs double of Army Painters - but act the same.
Greenstuff World has super cheap greenstuff. Its softer when mixed to quickly hardens to the state of GW greenstuff.
I prefer GSWs as that fact makes it great for smoothing surfaces.
Miliput is cheapest. Great for bulk work. Like bodyshapes and terrain. Not good for fine detailwork.
Cool with miliput is that you can mix it with ‘moduler voks’ think it’s called plastline in english. This stuff:

Still hardens up. Making for a super cheap material. Up to a 50:50 mix is still hard enough and perfect for terrain.

Neither, it's Stargate.
:P
In addition to Bloodbeard's putty suggestion there's also Procreate which I find easier to work with, but that's just personal choice and isn't any cheaper

Is that the grey stuff you use for your sculpts? How come you find it easier? I'm thinking off makig a "sculpting putty" thread with tips and tricks.

Yeah it is. I find it less stickier than greenstuff - it's less prone to sticking to fingers/tools while you're working on it.
Bitterman:
Yeah, I find Procreate much easier to work with than Green Stuff too. Less sticky, easier to mix in different proportions to get the effect you want…
But, vastly better sculptors than me have created spectacular models with Green Stuff, so, maybe it’s just a personal thing. Shrug… both do the job, evidently.
