"The End times have brought bitter infighting and squabbling between the various Chaos Dwarf factions, as their borders close in, surrounded by lucid threat on all sides, the Chaos Dwarf Warlords succumb to bitter infighting and disputes on how to best handle the oncoming tide of war and defend their lands."
Some way to organise a few games in 2015 via Skype? Maybe some sort of global Chaos Dwarf Civil War end times campaign or something via Skype or some other online player. Would be a cool way for us all to play some games against each other.
Not sure Skype would work - would either require both players to have two CD armies, or would require both to make a paper/card cutout copy of the other’s army, AND they’d need the exact same terrain collection, plus in WH measurements need to be as accurate as possible and over Skype it’d be hard for both to get units in the exact same place, potentially leading to arguments due to the minor differences building up over the course of a game.
I believe there is an online program for playing WH games online, but the name escapes me atm, and I have no idea whether or not it has CD lists on it. There’re also mods for Total War, but again, no idea if they support CDs.
Yeah theres a wfb player which is still available via torrent, It got shut down by GW a while ago but you can still get hold of it I think. People do play Skype games I’ve seen them mentioned on forums a bit in the past, mainly when someone has moved away from their local gaming group and is struggling to find games to play. Granted it would take a bit longer than a normal game to set up using card / paper for the ooposing players units, but once set up correctly it could work pretty well. I dont think positioning is a problem for me personally as there’s nothing you cant measure with a piece of string/ tape measure or an angle measurer or using a tile/grid system for reference. And terrain can be worked out with more cards and templates etc. For me its about camera quality because with a fixed camera you will struggle to see dice rolls and itd be a pain constantly repositioning the camera for dice roll close ups. Just an idea don’t know if its worth exploring.
I’m skeptical, as having to stop after every unit is moved to measure out position and orientation, relaying those numbers to the camera and then waiting while the other guy follows them, then double-checks is going to bog things down (something you will have to do as the opponent has to perfectly replicate the moving player’s moves to avoid arguments that could be caused by discrepancies mounting up over time), but I suppose using a grid and map reference could work (but it might be tricky finding a gridded sheet/mat large enough at a cost effective price; even more so if one or both players already have tables).
Do people actually use it for Warhammer? I’ve only ever heard of it being used for pen and paper RPGs such as D&D; it works in that case because the movement rules are more ‘rigid’ than those of WH and even area attacks are specifically written with a grid system in mind rather than WH’s templates.
I have absolutely no idea how this could possible work! But if anybody finds a good way, I’'m totally game. Would love to crush some fellow CDO members!
http://www.universalbattle.com So we can use this I believe to play games against each other, and the free account has a dwarf army template, so we would have to get creative to represent things like hellcannons, K’daiis, bullcentaurs, etc. OR you pay for a pro membership for however much that is and it has a LoA template.
***Edit Ahh I see just registered, wont let me. I think I will join pro anyway so I can use this template, need some games to practice. If anyone else would like to join me my name on there is Doombeard, army is Legion of Doom. Anyone fancy a game? A small one to start? I haven’t played in a long longggg time, so I am a bit rusty on rules and such, would appreciate someone helping me to learn if anyone is up for it.
its 5 bucks for 3 months . Not sure what you get other than access to the army templates, I couldn’t find any details anywhere on what you get
**edit "If you want to host a game, click the Host a game button. If you have the code for a match saved, you can load it to continue from where you left over (subscription only function). "
I joined up with Universal Battle a week or two ago. Haven’t got a chance to play a game yet, but I’m interested if people want to play. The biggest difficulty we might have is the time zone differences. I’m in Arizona, U.S. and the U.K. is 7 hours ahead of me as an example. Playing with our overseas comrades could be a bit tricky depending on people’s availability.
*The easiest way I’ve seen the tool demonstrated is by using it in combination with Skype. That way you can talk in real-time and play the game.
*Membership for lifetime with UB is only $29 (US). You can customize your own model gifs a little bit, or if you want, you can simply download what someone else has created for UB and your army.
I play: Chaos Dwarfs Warriors of Chaos Vampire Counts
