[Archive] SMM Moscals: Scibors new miniatures

Da Crusha:

There was one guy on here that started a moscal army but after painting about 10 or 15 models his progress stopped.

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Wow! This thread is old…wonder what happened to the Scibor mini’s since then.

There very expensive, I know minis cost money to make but its gettin the a point where you have to hold down a second job just to buy minis and paints.

This aint a dig at scibor directly but you get my point.

Shinobi:

Too expensive for an army, but so nice that a limited selection can be added to your GW/Forgeworld/Mantic/Other army. I have ordered a few bits n’ pieces to add to my incoming Mantic stuff, such as the Shaman and the Boyar Champion, to act as additional Characters (hairless though they may be!!).

lol wow this is one long on-going thread. I just got back into the hobby and bought about 200 bucks on a combination of the moscals and regular dwarfs, a war bear and the taurus—i think they look great and i’m extremely happy with the purchase and about to purchase one more war bear and maybe some bases.

that said, i think its interesting that scibor seems to evoke extended love or hate detailed responses—in every googled thread ive visited. to be honest i really dont care about ‘press moulding’ or whatever conversions he was selling on ebay in the past they look great. they also filled a gap that GW wasnt offering–new CDs.

I also bought the Avatars of War Dwarf Lord…which no offense i wansnt to happy with, and that single mini cost me about 15 bucks where as scibor singles were 6 bucks each. (btw any one want a packaged AOW Dwarf Lord PM me 10 bucks.) the green model advertised on the AOW model is very different from the actual lead. the green looks more squatty and better.

scibor gets alot of criticism about proportion which i think is funny because you can say the same about GW. I was 7 yrs old in 1980 when I collected Ral Partha/Grenadier and when GW came out alot of my friends never got into GW because they said they were waaay to cartoony looking and exagerated in proportion…

Ordering Scibor minis- if you order direct it’ll take about a month to get to USA. they’ll come in cheap envelopes and im surprised they dont break in shipping. inside, you wont get the store packaging, youll get plastic bags with your name written with a sharpie. yeah, this includes the higher end models like the war bears.

now, if you order from an on-line store, you’ll get it packaged as it would if you bought it from a retail store, BUT it takes about 2 months! it’s a long enough time to lose interest! but when they arrived i was happy with the product itself you just have to be patient. i think these will look great on my shelf with the forge world CDs (i just collect i dont play)

…damn just got sucked into the long Scibor/love/hate/response…but i hope this helps anyone who wants to buy 'em.
