[Archive] Smoke above the Dark Fortress

fairoaks024:

i really like your metal work, the subtle rust makes it look real, as others have said. :sick with envy!

regards

DAGabriel:

No news? Love your work, I am trying to work myself up for Cinderbreath.

BTW, could you see a possibility to transplant your lava-bases tutorial from ACWF to us?

If not could you send it to me? I am compiling a list of lava tutorials and would try to translate it for our use.

Cheers!

GodHead:

The hot coals on the Iron Daemon look great, but I have to ask - why are they hot in the first place?

The lit their coal hopper on fire prior to putting it in the steam engine? They’re crazy!

deadlydeceiver:

Hey everyone,

nearly missed the revival of my thread

@GodHead: Isn’t it obvious? The hellbound deamon likes its meals hot :hat off (And beause it looks cool)

@ Sure, I’d gladyl share the tut. Let’s talk this over via PM.

On the subject of my CD: This guy (and his friends) took my attention:

ryanamandaanna:

Holy cow! I bow to your superior painting skills!!! :cheers

Blackspine:

amazing stuff man.

I love the lighting effects.

Yodrin:

Wow, amazing!!!

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

deadlydeceiver:

Hehe, thanks a lot!

Your praise is always a great inspiration to paint again.

That being said: I finished some Harlequin for my DE in December (can be seen in the sub-album of my DE) and that marked the end for my DE painting marathon ^^ (but the army is far from finished)

So I decided to finish my remaining CD next.

Repainting Manburner (nearly done… will now try Tjubs flames on him)

5 Fireglaivers inkl. Champ (AoW)

Skullcracker :sick

Hobbos (not sure how to get the motivation to paint those…)

Tau’ruk (this one will probably wait until I get some FW Bullcentaurs)

So, stay tuned

deadlydeceiver:

It has been a long time, since I touched my last chaos dwarf, but I finally managed to find some time again.

I must admit, that I’m not so used to my CD-painting techniques anymore.  :~

So have a look!

First: Deathmask for my Fireglaivers (conversion based on AoW Thunderlord)

[attachment=3843]

I also finished 4 more fireglaivers, but those just look like the others, so I thought they weren’t worth a pic

And secondly I finally repainted my manburner and gathered my courage to model some flames on him (based on Tjubs flame tut - thanks a lot, but his are way better… :hat off )

Yodrin:

Wow, amazing!!!

Yodrin
+1 :cheers :hashut

The Besieger:

I like the manburner its super painted :hat off

Great painting talent in this Showcase :cheers

Goltor Lintrepide:

Every single pieces of this this army is simply beautiful. I am not a big fan of juggernaut as fireborn, but yours are very well painted. Also, your manburner is simply amazing. :hat off

deadlydeceiver:

Wow, thank you. Your praise honors and motivates me greatly! :hat off
I’m glad that the new painting of the manburner is convincing.

@Yawa: Glad you like my work. Well, those juggers can’t be everyones taste, but they fit my picture of a deamons bound in machines by bull-loving dwarfs :hashut (and the FW K’Daai weren’t released at that time… I like those too, but in a different way)
I hope the destroyer will fit my picture in the end…

DD

deadlydeceiver:

Just a quick groupshot:

ryanamandaanna:

Nice work! The backdrop is pretty nice too… what is that?

Goltor Lintrepide:

There would be room for a destroyer in this army, it would fit nicely in the upper right corner of the picture. :hat off

Yodrin:

wow, great photo of a great army!!

The Besieger:

respect :cheers very great groupshot.

Your army looks great

deadlydeceiver:

Thank you all!!! I was unsure whether the backdrop would be “accepted”. Glad you like it!

@ryan: It is a painting of Mordor that I found when I googled “Volcanic Wastelands” (If you look closely you can find a Hobbit silouette)

@yawa: Actually I just bought the base for my Destroyer yesterday, but it will take some time arriving, being converted and then painted. But it’s in the works ^^

DD

Duke Lisle:

Just wanted to say your army looks fantastic. The bases have really inspired me to up my “lava” game (as in, making better lava terrain/scenery). Thank you!
