This thing about round bases would be for a new warhammer based game that has round bases and all skirmishers. All new models would be released for factions. Meaning if you want a ‘legal’ list you have to make a warband using End Times 1st Ed for want of a better name.

It’s perfectly possible that they introduce rules for an additional Warhammer skirmish game that requires round bases - thereby getting people to buy more of the existing Warhammer models (and a pack of round bases) rather than use their existing models to play it, while leaving the proper Warhammer with square bases.
