Khan!:

Didn’t it turn out that the “muties” in Gorkamorka were crash-landed Space Marines? I remember reading that somewhere and thinking it was the among the dumbest bits of fluff they had come up with, but nevertheless Orks + Mad Max still seems awesome to me… Interesting that it wasn’t too much of a departure from Necromunda - is Gorkamorka where the Ash Wastes rules come from? Those never seemed to fit into Necromunda’s theme for me…

@wallacer: Depends on which kind of Imperial Guard you’re using for the conversions. Cadians could be Van Saar or Orlock, Catachans could be Orlock, Goliath, Scavvies or Ratskins (or Pit Fighters!), Witch Huntery/Deamon Huntery human figs could represent Cawdor or Redemptionists, Steel Legion (particularly ForgeWorld ones - multipart, arent they?) would make the best Delaque because of their greatcoats. With green stuff and a little imagination any human figure could be converted into some of the basic gang archetypes (muscles and piercings, headbands and denim, techno-gear and greased hairdos, hoods and incense, greatcoats and goggles, big hair and girl parts)

Theory_Man:

Space Hulk was good game.

Malificant:

not sure on the muties. i know the diggas were imperial gaurd who were there before the orcs crash landed, and were escavating necron ruins. i beleive the rules for them and the stalkers that help them (necrons iirc) are in the digganob expansion, which i do not own.

grunts:

Diggas-Before the Orks crashed, Angelis was being surveyed by the Imperium. Those humans examining the pyramids of Angelis were forced underground during the Crash, and gradually devolved into primitives. When the two races first met, Orks tried to enslave Diggas, but were slaughtered by the Night Horrors, the fearful allies of the Diggas. Since then, Orks have referred to the Pyramids and the land around them, the unchallenged territory of the Diggas, as “Morgarg-durlurk-gulskar-dregsnikslag”, which translates as “Fortress of Ancient, Terrifying Power, Land of Waiting Death, Pain and Destruction”, a name of utter dread amongst a species which fears virtually nothing. Despite these initial setbacks, Diggas and Orks have become trading partners, and Diggas revere Orks as the pinnacle of culture.

Muties -When the Space Hulk crashed, not all of the humans were forced underground. Some survived the crash of their own space ship, and continued to dwell within it. But the radiation and poisons pouring from the Hulk twisted and corrupted them, changing them into twisted mutant monstrosities. The most advanced race on Angelis, the Muties lead a holy war against all other races from their fortress “Etervigila”.

torn:

one thing ive always wanted to do for a gorkamorka gang is have my nob made of an ogryn body with an ork head stuck on it. i loved those conversions.

heres a fact - gorkamorka is to blame for the crap ork and orc miniatures with lame poses we have today instead of the characterful ones we used to have.

AGPO:

Space Hulk was superb, as were Epic and Warmaster. The best specialist game IMO was Mordheim, I even came up with a set of rules for a CD warband using counts as and a few house rules. We also have Mordheim to thank for the empire milita with their blunderbusses - until recently the favoured method of conversion

I absolutely agree.
GW really missed the boat with Specialist Games.

AGPO:

I really will never understand why Epic went away - a much better money spinner than Apocalipse or post movie Lotr IMHO

wallacer:

It’s because GW look at things in purely dollar terms.

They don’t understand the concept of board games or specialist games introducing people to the hobby (and thus making money in the long term for GW).

AGPO:

Yeah, but Epic was one of those games where you could build your collection to a huge scale. I’d never collect a space marine company, but for Epic you can have four and still enough money to put in all the tanks, transports and superheavies you could want to support them for the cost of a small 40k army! It’s not just a gateway, its a full on collectors game. And because the minis are quick to paint, you can keep buying without the “will I ever finsih this?” syndrome kicking in.

Arlon:

were about to start a necromuda leage in our lgs should last 3-4 months
