[Archive] spinn off army

Kera foehunter:

how many of you tryed to make a spinn off army from warhammer by useing there stats or

from your fluff or off your favorite character

and did you do it:hat off

Willmark:

I’m not sure what you are asking there Kera, and usually I can translate “Pirate speak”.

Kera foehunter:

lol you must being using a port royal tranlation!! willmark

Well let me say. Do any of you guys! and gal Have a cd army or a group of cd that you have .That follows the fluff of a hero or clann or a general that your in your army !

or are they plain jane boring cd armys

ex. i have a group of pygmy hobo that i call tyrocks raiders

they are a spinn off of my plain hobo wolf riders

Thane Godri GoblinSlayer:

I think she means making a fimir army using lizardmen or ogre rules.

Hashut’s Blessing:

What it appears to be is far simpler  I think it’s asking if any of your units have fluff behind them, similar to a Regiment of Renown.

For example, my avatar is Rykarth the Unbreakable and he had a little fluff: he stared down Archaon and got a better deal on the Hellcannons. I furthered his stature by making him the head of ALL Immortals for an online campaign and use him as such.

Cryonicleech:

Eh, none of my characters have much fluff. I’m too busy sharpening the army in the furnace of war than writing fluff, but I do think about their personal histories, which in turn affect my army composition.

Kera foehunter:

so you don’t have an elite group of you army that you always use ???

Bassman:

Oh, yes my army is full of fluff. They have names and stories! This one of the funniest part of the hobby, IMO. :hat

If you check my army blog there is a short story about my wolfriders, my sorcerer lord is called Zarr Ngrund and belong to the ancient Clan of the Bluebeards… even my Orcs have a story behind. I’m just looking a name for the boss…

My elite unit? Hobgoblins of course

Regards, Bassman

GRNDL:

My armies and units have thematic names, but rarely any deep fluff. I suppose someone could look at the names and think there is fluff behind them, but it would be subjective and change from person to person.

Sometimes the names come out as a result of the theme of the army: my WW1 inspired Imp Guard army has a unit of chaos/mutant zombies named “Lost Patrol 1922031 - MIA” which started life as an entry into the Eye of Terror 40k summer campaign zombie contest, but fell in line very nicely with the “unknown soldier” feeling I was building up.

A lot of the names come up simply because I can’t just write “Goblin Hero” on my roster sheet - he has to have some weird name to liven things up!

Godbob and his jolly rogers:

Oh yes i’m a fluff lover all my armys have in depth fluff all conected slightly

furrie:

I don’t write fluff for my armies and I dont give them name. I’m not that good with writing

Kera foehunter:

i have not made the fluff yet but i have a group of slayer pirates that

i play every chance i get (as basic warriors)

capt. barsonal and his roudy bunch!

Godbob and his jolly rogers:

barsonal and his roudy bunch!

Kera foehunter
Vs Godbob and his Jolly Rogers

I think your crew might have to be in Godbob's fluff

If thats ok with you?

Willmark:

Now I understand Kera’s Pirate Speak,

Right now I’m working on the fluff of my models but trying to finish the models first before I really delves into to lore and fluff. My general has the best fluff developed so far based on the fact of his ride, i.e. his Throne of Power.

Auretious Taak:

Oh yes i'm a fluff Nazi all my armys have in depth fluff all conected slightly

A word of warning on the use of the term '"insert anything here" Nazi.'

I used a similar term on the Specialist Games Mordheim boards a few years ago and one of the prominant members went off his nut at me because the casual use of the word Nazi is not sopmething to be taken lightly. Alot of people were affected ina very negative way by the Nazi's as a group and this has echoed through subsequent generations, so in the better interests of the whole I request that from now on you refrain from using the term "Insert anything here" Nazi. My thanks.

To Kera, you're getting the land lubbers confused by all your speak girl! Keep it up, makes for a much better grand scheming that way! ;)

Fluff/elite units resulting from these.

Of course, though lets go to 40k forst, the first models I painted there for myself were some termagants, the old plastic 2nd edition ones which are still my favourite by far. One has some glasses/goggles modelled onto him which he "Stole" from someone he killed. SO against the fluff of the Tyranids but stuff it, it's awesome. My original unit of Genestealers, the first 6 were named such things as Rip and Bob and Slasher. Rip is awesome his two front rending claws are just all red in paint to represnt getting quite personnal with his enemies. He is loved because he went toe-to-toe with Kharn the Betrayer in a 2nd Ed 40k game and HALVED Kharn's wounds. THAT was sinularly most impressive.

To Fantasy, not so much, though have battlefield memories of fanatics and stuff but otherwise nope.

Mordheim is where it's at, the list is too long to list unfortunately, too much fun had there!
