Admiral:
Since Forgeworld did the Chaos Dwarfs a grand favour by releasing their very own choo-choo train, it might be interesting to many collectors around here to watch these vintage documentaries while modelling and painting:
Building Steam Locomotives - 1930’s Trains & Railways Educational Film
Steam Locomotives: Power to Order
Firing A Steam Locomotive - 1947 Educational Documentary
How to Coal & Oil a Steam Locomotive For a Long Run
British Steam Locomotive Maintenance
Steam Trains General Repair - 1938 London Midland & Scottish Railway
Some neat parts include the scraping away of clinker impurities from inside the firebox, by a guy crawling into it during maintenance. And one chap lighting his cigarette, while in his mouth, on a white-hot rivet.
Naturally, there are loads of newer videos on steam locomotives and other steam machinery, including Trains - The Steam Pioneers and the Royal Navy documentary Steam, steel and Dreadnoughts (1806-1918). The latter can be highly recommended as a whole series on the turbulent development of the Royal Navy, since it’s one of the best-crafted documentary series I’ve ever encountered.
Don’t hesitate to share your own video finds on steam machinery. It might provide inspiration and conversion ideas for people wanting something extra for their Iron Daemons and Skull Crackers.
