I have problems with my banner poles as they are easily getting crooked. Therefore, I am looking for ways to strengthening them. I don?Tt want to replace them with copper rod, but I was thinking it could be possible to make them stronger by wrapping copper rod or another material around them. Has anyone done something similar and care to share some advices?
Oh sorry, it is the old metal big hats I am having problems with :hat

Haha, ah ok, wasn't expecting those :D
Mhm, still, the easiest solution for me would be coiling wire around it. But you would need to make it look good ;)
I do the same as Tjub, just with plastic rods, they are light and cheap. What I do is to pin them to the model´s hand, and if you are worried about sturdiness, you can always place a (straightened) paper clip inside.
The upsides of this tehnique is that you can make your banners as big/small as you like, with the benefit of making a really impressive battle standard, or personalized regimental icons.
I would like to keep the models original as I am affraid they would loose value if I start cutting them up.
It is both for strengthening, but also to make the banner pole straight. Maybe I should try to go ahead with the plastic rods. @Skink, do you think it would be possible to cut them open and wrap them around the metal banner poles?
I would find a better way or storing/transporting them. They shouldn’t bend that much if carefully handled. Store them alone, surrounded by foam.
The metal banner poles are wide enough as they are, and they aren’t even round in most cases, so wrapping anything around them will probably make them too thick while not strengthening them enough.
