[Archive] Swiss's Lizard lists

Whenever a new army comes out I love to get the book and play around with lists. It’s fun for me, and it is a nice thought exercise. Even if I plan to never play the army, I like to tinker with lists.

All these lists are 2,250 points. The style aimed for (well simplistic style) is mentioned

The format will have a character’s unit following him.

---- Initial Thoughts ----

I will forgo using power dice to gain dispell, unless I’m trying to stop a RiP spell.

The chameleon skinks are meant to wreak havoc if possible, or damage/intercept threats to my advance or shooters.

Razordons will help protect the flank with their shooting to a degree. They seem useful in such a role.

Saurus blocks will be my center. A hard to crack center with some DEADLY characters will be a nice boost. Rerollable cold blooded leadership adds up amazingly fast, though I hope that I can win on charges when coupled with characters… or the staggering number of attacks if I’m charged will win me the day. Especially in the large chunky blocks I like to take (4x6 for saurus).

Skink blocks will be on either side. Hoping the Kroxigor will give the killing power the Skinks need to not be pushovers. Hopefully I could force an opponent to engage in their front so they’ll have numbers/ranks to counter the damage they’ll do to the skinks.

An interesting list and very different from thoose I have started to see and play against which are including 1 if not 2 Engine of the Gods.

It looks fairly solid and you have 2 combat beasts in thoose charachters that can always charge out of their parent units if needs be. Skink cohort units should be fantastic however the couple of times I played them they have got massacred the combination of squishy skinks and WS 3 kroxigors means they dont do much damage and bleed kills back. They should be fantastic as flankers with M6 although i think that 3 plain Kroxigors might still be a better option. (BTW i think you need to add another skink to each unti as you currently have 15 and you need 8 skinks for every kroxigor

Razordons will hold the flank all day long against anything fast enough to worry about blitzing your flanks (no-one sane is going to put any sort of cavalry into a charge against potentially 40 s4 shots.

For the cold one cavalry i would add one more model - 6 wide cavalry is the most you can use to engage the minimum size ranked unit (5 * 20 mm) and the extra model can make all of the difference also a standard with warbanner will help them hit harder. However you may be planning to use them more as a flanking / support unit in which case keeping them cheap makes sense.

Will be interested to see how this performs if you build the army and i do exactly the same whenever a new army list comes out - if for nothing else than to work out how to counter it with my existing lists.
