Just got through with my second battle utilizing the Legion of Asgorh rules. It was a 2000pt Pitched Battle vs Brettonia. The list was as follows. (I will give a general overview and will post the battle report after i create one on Battle Chronicler.

I deployed the Hailshot units in the center and put the BsB in the unit without the magic banner with the Fireglaive units on either side. The magma cannons on hills on either side of the Fireglaive units and the Hellcannons behind and to the left and right, respectively, of the magma cannons.

Had an awesome first turn as i got two direct hits on a unit of 13 Knights of the Realm with my Hellcannons and brought the unit down to 7 my magma cannon killed 2 more bringing the unit down to 5 :hat off.

Long story short my opponent was winning 445pts to 0pts at the end of turn 3 as i had lost both my deamonsmiths (mainly to miscasts) and a magma cannon to a unit of questing knights. Turn 4 saw me break and chase down a 30 model strong unit of Men-at-Arms Break the remaining Kinghts of the Realm (2 left by the time they got into combat) and position to have three infernal guard units within short rang of his general (who started out as a level 3 but lost all thier wizard levels due to a miscast on turn 1 and a misfire result 3 from a hellcannon :o).

Turn 5 saw me destroy his knights of the Realm completely, make swiss cheese out of his general and hold of the questing knight unit with a Hellcannon. At which point he conceded and went on to complain about how the Infernal Guard are overpowered and how Chaos Dwarfs shouldn’t have better shooting than a Dwarf Army.

Anyway, victory was sweet and i mwah ha ha ha’d to myself when i was heading home as i am sure Hashut will be pleased :cheers.

As to the comment of Chaos dwarfs shouldn’t have better shooting than dwarfs… um… they’re dwarfs, but chaosy. duh

Good battle, first time I’ve ever heard Infernal Guard be called overpowered! Especially with very expensive ranged weapons in small units!

i’ve never had good luck with hailshots or fireglaives, how do you find them? i never take them.

Beefcake: I completely agree i kept attempting to illustrate analogies between any human force and Warriors of Chaos to my opponent, but i think my accuracy with the hellcannons (hit directly 2/3rds of the time) put him in dwarf mode.

MLP: I hear you there, i think Dwarfs need an update asap just so those who play them can finally shut up and stop griping. They also need to realize that they are not the big kids on the block anymore in terms of shooting.

Thrawn: this is a point that i feel that my gaming circle differs from the rest of the world. On page 502 of the rule book it says “a model can only have one suit of armour and one shield…” We took this to mean that while you can only take a single item from any other magic item category, you could take a magic shield and a magic suit of armour from the magic armour section; but i guess we have been playing it wrong :o. I think that a mixture of both fireglaives and blunderbusses is awesome. Use the blunderbuss units as anvils and the fireglaive units as hammers in an MSU style and you have something pretty special in my humble opinion.
