[Archive] The Ogres from Zorn Uzkul

Rakkzul:

Hello!

I started this proyect a few weeks ago, since my 9th age team needed me to play as ogre… But I am a Chaos Dwarf player by heart

So here they are! The Ogres from Zorn Uzkul!

I know it’s a standard painting, but is t he best I could do :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: The bases still need work, step by step

Dînadan:

Nice conversion, plastic CD head on ogre body works quite well

Abecedar:

Oh, and very nice by the way.

Nice conversion, plastic CD head on ogre body works quite well :)

Dînadan
Thank you both, they work like a charm, plus they look between funny and serious :D

It does look nice, I had some similar ideas (the hobgoblins as gnoblars, mostly) might borrow that mammoth hunter

Extra: I just bought a finecast Lamassu for the army, how can I field it as? I thought about making it my Frost Mammoth/Thundertusk, but the 50x50 base doesn't really fit, since Mammoth must use a 100x150 one, and can't think of anything :(

Fuggit Khan:

Those are super cool!

What a brilliant idea to swap out the heads with the old plastic CD’s, it works perfectly :cheers

I’m going to send you some slaves for such great work :hat off

Admiral:

That conversion works absurdly well. Very good work so far!

Roark:

Best-styled Ogres! The unit looks totally sick, man.

Rakkzul:

Short update!

I started building the Mercenary Veterans, won’t field them all with beards and hats, I want the unit to remain eclectic, in both looks and weapons

Jackswift:

Very well done! The bearded CD heads work surprisingly well with the Ogre models. Will look very fearsome on the table top.

Fuggit Khan:

Dang those are cool!

I don’t recognize the guns, where are those from? They fit perfectly :cheers

Hmm... I think they are from the Mournfangs set, not sure right now

Admiral:

Neat veterans! How about drilling out their pistol barrels?

Abecedar:

still more great looking big guys.

Rakkzul:

This weekend was purely for training with the team, as we have a team tournament in 2 weeks, so I couldn’t assemble or paint any models

But! I found a treasure on a friend’s basement, that he agreed to trade for some beers at the local bar :stuck_out_tongue:

Here it is! It’s in spanish, but I guess you’ll know what does it means

Jackswift:

Wow!  Nice find.   And a very affordable price too!

Rakkzul:

New update!

I managed to get some more models done, bases included. Which is good because I’m going to play them on a team tournament the 16th, and I want to bring all models painted.

First is a Thunder Cannon, the idea is that the ogre handling it is a slave of the big hat ones, that’s why he doesn’t deserve a beard nor a hat! :hashut

This one gonna be a fire Shaman (Pretty obvious, right?), I like how the fire and lava turned out

And the last one will be a random shaman, probably butchery and alchemy, because I love those 2 paths in 9th age. Look at his face, is so funny

Regards

:hat off

Herby:

ENANOS DEL CAOS!

Plastic CD heads on ogre bodies fit very well yes.

One piece of advice(like Admiral said before), drill holes into the gun barrels. It looks way better and makes a huge difference. It goes hand in hand with nice bases. A nice base and such details can easily upgrade the overall look of a miniature even when it isn’t well painted.

Fuggit Khan:

Rakkzul
He reminds me of the cannibal butcher in Dark Souls ;P

Rakkzul:

Okay so I went to a 9th age team tournament last weekend with my ogres, we finished 4th out of 8 teams, so not that bad

My games were:
First day
1º Won 11-9 against ogres, pretty much the same list that I played
2º Lost 14-6 against another ogre, more combat focussed
3º Lost 12-8 against Khemri, agreed outcome with the opponent, since my list was kinda useless against his
Second day
4º Draw 10-10 against ogres, similar list to mine, I didn’t wanted to take any risk since the team only needed me to score a draw
5º Won 15-5 against high elves, turn 1 to 3 were all hits with my scratapult on his swordmasters, and both eagles were dead on turn 2 also, so GG

My list:
Great Shaman: General, Rottenjaw, Lv 4, Alchemy, Talisman of Greater Shielding, Demon Heart. 335
Khan: BSB, Iron Fist, Yeti Furs, Dragonskin Banner. 195
Shaman: Lv 1, Fire, Great Weapon, Dispell Scroll. 146
1x 14 Tribesmen: FCG, Banner of Discipline, Iron Fist, Heavy Armour. 553
2x 15 Scrapling: Standard Bearer, Short bows. 2x 50
1x 8 Mercenary Veterans: FCG, Flaming Standard, +1 Ballistic Skill, Poisoned Attacks, Brace of Ogre Pistols. 500
2x 1 Sabretooth Tigers. 2x 40
2x 2 Yetis. 2x 80
2x Thunder Cannon. 2x 150
1x Scratapult. 130
Total: 2499

And now… The (almost) finished boys!

3 bombardiers and a cannon

14 tribesmen, main unit

BSB

Great shaman, general

A Khan, Great Khan, or whatever I feel like fielding him as :stuck_out_tongue:

Fire Shaman

And family pic! Missing the scratapult (Not even started gluing it), scraplings (To be painted) and a close-up on the mercenaries

:hat off
