[Archive] The Royal Wedding?

Willmark:

I’m guessing at least the folks on the other side of the pond enjoyed the day off?

Hashut’s Blessing:

Actually, it made life difficult, lol  Was trying to get to Leeds using public transport for a game of 40k, but the bus was on Sunday service (fine), except they changed the Sunday service without telling anyone that they planned to and earlier than the new timetable (put up last night) said it would come into effect (not fine). It also made my girlfriend late for work.

Still, nice to have something happy being covered by the news.

I am glad to see that the important things in life were not interrupted by the Royal wedding. I would like to think that the Royal couple ducked off, for a quick game of Warhammer when the cameras were not on them.

Ahhhh...what a pleasant thought.

inkpwn:

I hate the idea of royals, they support a system of right by birth and power by right. Backwards ideas for a backwards nation. If we ever want to advance as a nation we have to drop this outdated and savage system of rule. The royal wedding over marketing just rubs me the wrong way and shows how many people are willing to accept such awefull ideals just for a wave and a smile.
But that’s just my opinion…

tjub:

Couldnt care less…

wallacer:

I watched the whole thing. I don’t mind constitutional monarchy, it’s absolute monarchy that’s the problem.

Pyro Stick:

I was pretty annoyed that there was no mail cause im waiting for a lot of stuff but i enjoyed watching william having to force the ring on and the guy falling of his horse. Thought it was pretty funny when he drove out in his dads aston martin as well.

Who got married?

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Me to, not my monarchs, but speaking of the wedding, what an unfortunate picture :-/

Very funny. The little girl should be covering her eyes, not her ears. Thanks for sharing, it has just put the whole wedding into a new genre. :)

nitroglysarine:

I thought it’d soften the mood :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Baggronor:

Well, I got a day off, I wasn’t going to waste it watching the wedding. What would be the point of the day off :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: So I painted some DEs.

They’re useful decorations. They don’t actually decide anything much anymore. We just need to have them live on less money imo. Much less money. The real problems of greedy ruling classes are the Tories and their friends in the city imo, the royals are just puppets.
I actually thought it made a nice change to see lots of flags flying to celebrate something that didn’t involve football or the far right for once.

inkpwn:

But were paying out the arse for a figure head decoration that supports these beliefs.

I often get the tourism argument thrown at me but we live in a fantastic country of castles, nastional parks, canals, beachs e.t.c and I see no reason to sustain these gap toothed racist spongers.

On tv after the wedding the asked for tweets and emails about the peoples opinion on the wedding. The stated that they were to ‘disgracefull’ to read out, directly after this a media short came on about christian belifs and how gay marrige is wrong. I hate our media system, I really do. On a much lighter note, the media do provide us with a new doctor who tonight so I can calm down and indulge.

inkpwn:

It should also be known I don’t want to start an argument I just want to get my anti-royal rant out for the day. Job done. Now let’s eat some dalek cake.

nitroglysarine:

Quite, its should also be noted that these poor people are basically in slavery to this situation.

Free the royals and let them live a normal life.

A prison with golden bars, is still a prison.

Yep.

Additionally if the UK abolishes the monarchy, the UK becomes just another country of Europe. The amount of money they generate for London alone is probably staggering.

If nothing else I wish them well for the life they are going to led from her forward, their lives are no longer their own.

I’m not anti-Royal: I’m anti-stuff-that’s-completely-irrelevant-and-shouldn’t-be-funded-with-public-money-when-the-NHS-is-being-asked-to-make-massive-cuts-without-compromising-services.

nitroglysarine:

I’ve just seen a few pictures and a video of people arrested for peaceful protest in London, the person singing ‘we all live in a fascist regime’. He was removed in a sting operation by pain clothes police officers, and other people around (one gratefully with a video camera to catch every second) were physically assaulted and prevented from leaving the park. Another few people who were dressed as zombies, and were sitting having a coffee in starbucks were arrested for and I quote 'suspected of planning a peaceful protest’

I hate to use a overused quote, but I feel it prudent in this case… 1984.
