Watch this space for updates as the army slowly takes shape from the ground up
Awww, I'm insanely jealous. Blunderbuss units are my favourite, and sadly I only have 16. eBay just isn't the place to shop for them...
Glad to see those units are all going to a good home. Keep us posted on your progress, we'll be watching and silently judging if you don't post ;)
(as I sit here with my entire army unfinished and no progress pics in almost 6 months!)
I had a chance to make some progress over the weekend.
I tend to spend a lot of time preparing my models. I always clip away any flash and really focus in on the mold lines with my file/knife. For this project I also clipped off the base tab as I wanted to mount these guys on some cork bases. Once ready the models are mounted using pins/greenstuff to ensure they won’t be leaving the base. The last step is adding 2 very small earth magnets underneath the base so my infantry will stick to my trays.
I focused on completing my unit of 23 warriors with 2 characters. I still have 5 left to do and the characters still need some work.
Here’s a picture of what I’ve managed to complete so far.
This picture shows the 2 small earth magnets I glue to the underside of the base.
Converted hero to eventually be carrying the battle standard. Not sure what standard I’m going to use, or if I’ll just make my own. Also note I still need to add some banners to his back poles.
Here’s a picture of my 5X5 movement tray (25 guys). Notice the tin on the base and the raised wooden edges.
I had to add a picture of the base flip upside down
Well that’s it for now.
Things I still need to do for this unit.
- Standard for my hero
- Banners for my banner poles on my level 4 and hero
Great minis, you really have managed to get an awesome collection. I love oldies, can’t wait to see how you will paint them (because of your great standards!) :hat off
Well it’s been a while, but I’m still working hard on this project.
It’s taken me a lot longer then I anticipated. The extra step of adding magnets and making trays has slowed me down a bit.
I’m beginning to hate assembling models! Here’s what I have assembled at this point.
- 25 Chaos Dwarf Warriors with full command and sorcerer/hero
- 25 Chaos Dwarf Warriors with great weapons, full command and sorcerer/hero
- 15 Blunderbusses
- 15 Blunderbusses
- 2 Bull Centaurs
- 1 death rocket with crew
- 1 set of death rocket crew (no warmachine)
Here’s an army shot so far
Here’s a shot of 15 Blunderbuss. You’ll notice the first rank is all firing forward with the rear ranks having the guns shouldered or off to the side.
Last shot is of my unit of 25 Great weapon armed Chaos Dwarfs. Yes I really do own 20 of them jealous?
Still have a lot to do. I need to get my bull centaur units up and running. I also need to get 2 warmachines finished. Once this is completed I may quickly convert the eruption gun/killa kans. Then it is on to painting.
I still also need to finish up my banners/banner poles. I’ll be making these by hand.
Very very nice collection of big hat models. This is going to be a nice looking army. The unit of great weapon cd’s is awesome, although i think the model is a bit too static to look good in a whole unit of his own. Cant wait to see this army painted.
