I’ve been playing 40k over the last week, and I heard there was a beginners tournament. So I jumped into that.
I was running Chaos Space Marines. 1250 points.
Khorne Lord with Blood Feeder
8 Khorne Bezerkers, Champ, Melta Bomb, Plasma Pistol
Dedicated Rhino Transport with Daemonic Possession
7 Plague Marines, Champ w/ Powerfist and Melta bombs. 2 Plasma pistols
Dedicated Rhino Transport
7 Plague Marines, Champ w/ Powerfist and Melta bombs. 2 Meltas.
Chaos Dreadnaught w/ Multi Melta.
3 Obliterators
First game vs Chaos Space Marines (all Khorne) (Take and hold)
3 Oblits occupied a ruined building. From there they laid down Lascannons for most of the game causing problems for my opponents Land Raider.
One Plague Marine Squad went up to hold an objective, but got assaulted. Took forever for my opponent to kill them, but once they did… his Bezerkers got bombarded by Plasma Cannons from the Obliterators.
My dreadnaught was a real problem for him… it came up and smacked his demolisher destroying it. The dreadnaught ended up losing weapons and becoming immobolized…but it was smacking stuff in combat. 2nd Plague Marines came up, killed chosen… went over and killed the Rhino to secure objective.
My rhino went around and contested the other objective in the end game.
Bezerks killed land raider and then rushed towards middle objective, but came short.
Result: Win for me.
2nd Game. vs Space Marines (Annihilation)
My dice were HORRIBLE… get rolling 1s or double 1s for meltas to see if I penetrate… and if I did… I rolled 1s. Oblits took forever to deep strike. Finally came in and DESTROYED opponents scouts (plasma cannons… than 3 lasguns to finish off the last individual (a bit overkill…)
Bezerks die up the opposing dreadnoughts the whole game, killing a librarian in the process. Oblits blasted a space marine squad with plasma cannons…and sent them to oblivion. Plague Marines in hard cover destroyed a rhino.
I eeked out the win in the end. Oblits saved me… they really did.
Game 3 vs SM.
I should’ve sent Oblits to the left of a big building in the middle. Still… in one turn they hit directly with 3 plasma cannon blasts. IF the guy didn’t have cover… that’d be a dead space marine squad. None of his stuff got near the objective in my deployment zone. The termis that deep striked ended up getting shot pretty badly… and when they assaulted they didn’t do much… and were killed off.
The only reason I didn’t win, and tied was because 3 lasguns wounded the 2 remaining troops by his… but he made cover saves (grrr)
Overall a good time
