Quality check would be important, If these turn out the way i hope you will receive an order from me, If I really like them you will see a big order from me.

Very good news!

Very interested to see how this turns out. I guess that he’s pouring molten plastic in a simmilar manner to molten metal?
I may have to google this technique and learn a bit more.
Thanks for the update Grim, I’m looking forward to getting some of these.
Cheers

I have an update here.
Ed will be sending me a few models (literally, maybe 10) in resin, just to fiddle with incase I want to sculpt alternate arms etc.
He’s said that the main mould is proving fiddly because of the number of bits but that he could look at doing a temporary limited run in resin whilst he finished the main plastic mould.
Something else I have to mention here is that I will be going away for a month soon so I couldn’t sell them from my end even if I wanted to until after christmas at the soonest. Which I’m guessing will mean Ed may do a limited run in resin from the main Trollforged site (in the US) whilst I’m away, aiming for a plastic release in late Dec/ early Jan. Just a guess.
gIL^:
Ok Bro ill wait till the plastics come out
aka_mythos:
I’m sure the wait will be worth while.
Bolg:
Wow and that is interesting! looking forward to seeing your models.
But out of curiosity, does he potentially also cast models from others (like say, me)? As I suck in making my own molds…
Grimstonefire:
Yes, he does do some contract casting I believe, but mostly he sticks to selling stuff via the trollforged webstore (where you ‘give’ models to him and keep half of whatever he makes selling them).
He’s really swamped down at the moment with a very long queue of people waiting… So you might be better off looking elsewhere until he gets a move on.
Bolg:
Ah thanx. well I’m in no rush but I’ll keep my eyes open.

He puts in a lot of time into trollforge and from what he's said in the past even taking 50% he usually only breaks even. Lots of work and minimum monetary return is a recipe for burning out. I've had a couple of pieces he did for me that I was very appreciative of him, but he needs to figure out how to get more out of it for himself, because 3 years down the line I don't want to hear how he's too tired, given up, or has too much backlog to take anymore. I think it'd be a major loss for the wargame community. As it is he has what appears to be about a 5-6 month backlog, I don't see how he could realistically take on much more.

An update from Ed.
I’ve attached the pics because it’s been so long even I’ve forgotten what they look like! ![]()
My plan if it works is to release these on my end for box sets of 10 for $10 and see how many I can sell and move along etc. Might be tough to keep up at first with the new plastic but think it’s worth the risk.
I’ll send the first batch I get out, or a few that is to you. If your ok with me taking pictures of resins for the store that will be my aim. I’m going to have Philip drop them into a dwarf section but in a few weeks or whenever I get the other sets ready I want to add a box set section or “deals” section where people can buy larger numbers cheaper etc. to try and sell volume and make some money.
Anyway That’s the plan and they are first on my list of things to begin today now that I’m getting well. I’ll keep you posted and aiming hard to make mid feb. for you.
aka_mythos:
This is certainly good to hear, but he hasn’t given you a release date yet, has he?
Taurian:
An update from Ed.Damn, I'm willing to accept some mutation in my CDs, but not having arms is an awfully crippling handicap. ;P
Grimstonefire
Grimstonefire:
I can’t seem to find any pics of the arms…
From what I remember it’s 2 axes, a hammer and a sword I think. When I finally get them back I can sculpt great weapon, blunderbuss etc. In hindsight I should have spent a lot more time doing a universal plug fit for all the arms, as I will eventually have on the tormentors, as it would make additional arms fit perfectly on any models. The additional arms I do may have to be model specific which would be a real shame. It’s been so long I can’t remember how well they came out in the end. I know all the hand weapon arms fit quite closely on all the models so it might be possible to have a decent join with other arms.
Presumably these will be resin bits as I may need to either source elsewhere or get Ed to make them in a hurry (for him).
@mythos
No date yet, though I’ll be pressuring him hard for general release by the end of feb.
Borador:
