[Archive] US online store, oddity

Theory_Man:

I just noticed that at the bottom of each Warhammer unit/character there is the stats/special rules for that unit/character.

Does anyone know when they started to do this and more curious, the logic behind doing this?

Loki:

Its not just the US site it the UK as well, i think like most things is to create more sales as if you know what there stats are you can compare them to other things before you buy, say you don?Tt live near a GW store and want to start a new army and don?Tt want to waste £15 on a army book you can get a feel for the core units and go from there

Thommy H:

It’s been like that since they revamped the website, and the reason it’s there is the same reason the unit characteristics are in the back of the book - for reference and so you can see at a glance how good a unit is. I’ve found it to be a pretty useful feature in the past for checking rules and such.

Kera foehunter:

wow i never seen this !! its cool but they don’t Have the Stats on the Pirate slayers

Tutankhankh:

Pirate Slayers have no stats. In fact, they have no rules of any kind, as they are no longer a legal choice. I believe they are from the old Storm of Chaos book.

Kera foehunter:

lol you still can use them !! they are dow  in the latest verion of the dwarf book!!
under rare !! States you can hire dow on page 57

Tutankhankh:

Are their rules DoW? I thought they were SoC?

Regardless, I know I’d let you use 'em against me.

They're a Regiment of the Renown. While extensively not Dogs of War (in the army sense), seeing as how they continued to grow as Dogs of War sat stagnant, they are often lumped with the Dogs because GW offered their PDFs together.

Hashut’s Blessing:

They don’t put points costs to avoid allowing people to not buy the books, but the stats are there to help you decide if you want to buy them or not.

Kera foehunter:

Thanks for clearing that up
