Here’s the detail from the news letter

Hi there,
In this week?Ts newsletter we?Tve got a fantastically detailed new Dwarf character set available to order, as well as some events news for the coming months.

Dwarf Command Set
Ancient allies of the Empire of Sigmar, the Dwarf realm of Karaz Ankor remains a bastion of honour, strength and courage in a world assailed by the darkness of Chaos. Its armies are led into battle by its Lords and Thanes, and these nobles epitomise the Dwarf way of war. Grim leaders all, they bear the very finest weapons and rune-etched Gromril armour, seeking every opportunity to settle the grudges borne by their family or hold.

It is common for a Dwarf Thane to be entrusted with a great banner to bear into combat. This is both a physical symbol of the honour and oaths of a hold and its lord, and also confers protection from enemy magic because of the potent runes inscribed upon such revered items by Dwarf Runesmiths.

Should a Dwarf suffer some terrible personal tragedy, such as the loss of his family or hoard, or fail to uphold an oath, he will often enter into a terrible self-imposed exile. Taking fell oaths before a shrine of Grimnir, the shamed Dwarf will ritually dye his hair and beard orange, shave his head and stiffen what hair remains into a great crest, and put aside all trappings of their former life. Only then do they become a Slayer, and each will seek death in combat against the enemies of their race and the ferocious monsters of the Old World.

Designed by Edgar Skomorowski, the Dwarf Command Set contains three multi-part resin models: a Dwarf Lord, Dwarf Battle Standard Bearer, and a Dragon Slayer. Each is packed with fantastic detail and the character set is available to order now.

EDIT: Just noticed THIRTY QUID?!? Our command set £16 and our Daemonsmith pack £18. I think I’m going to pick up another couple of sets before they have a “price adjustment”.

Cheers

Da Crusha:

interesting, perhaps good dwarfs are next up to be redone, about time too.

Vogon:

I don’t think so, they’re just releasing the stuff from the much delayed Blackfire Pass book.

Alakihel:

@Vogon : I don’t know if Forge World would “adjust prices” or simply change the one which have already be done.

The Night Goblin command set is also 30£. With a Great Banner and a huge armored Sguig, here you also have a great Banner. Sculpts are all awesome but in my opinion you have more… Resin in the two last sets which justify the price

bas_2312:

Cool models, but they don’t fit with GW’s Dwarfs at all… Look more like the Avatars of War style.

Vogon:

These new dwarf prices are also more in-line with citadel’s finecast models. A dwarf thane is £9.50 and the finecast BSB is £11 so I guess in retrospect it’s not too bad, especially as these are (IMO) better sculpts.

I was just shocked at the difference in price between the Dwarfs and the Chaos Dwarfs.

Zuh-Khinie:

I love that slayer…

GeofreyShank:

Love these stunties. My next army will most likely be normal dwarfs.

Why do I always choose underground armies? (Skaven, Chaos Dwarfs, Night Goblins and Dwarfs)

Averrucus:

booooring.

they could have done better, those are not up to the “FW-kuality sculptz only for da best hobbiest!”, and look a lot like AoW knock offs.

nah, if I want to spend 30£ on resin dorfs, I’ll send them to that quirky spanish guy…

NoisyAssassin:

The Slayer is ?I'm not sure if I like him. The Mohawk is way too big. I would cut of the half of it. Then it's still big enough. Like I did with many of my slayers.

Herby
His mohawk is about as long as mine is :P

Kera foehunter:

There is only one dwarf there and he has the Mohawk

Grimstonefire:

Don’t like the beards on any of them, other than that though they are nice models. Just not worth £30 imo. I’d buy those for £15 I think, considering I’d need to resculpt the beards.

rpitts2004:

I’m pretty indifferent about this one . I like the standard bearer. Just wish the thane had a nice Gromril helmet.

Goltor Lintrepide:

Pricy, but way better looking than games workshop dwarfs, way better.

gIL^:

I like the standard but the other 2 are meh

Ugly Green Trog:

Problem is The Avatars of War heroes are metal. The dwarfs regiments are resin but Avatars of War haven't shown the ability to deal with high demand, the lead times on a lot of the war cast units is ridiculous. If I want to start an AoW army after Christmas I'll have to buy it in September lol.

Blue in VT:

I think these are terrible…the details are good but I agree that the overall concept of these guys is just flawed…they are hunchbacks! And why does the heroes beard look like half a hard boiled egg? I won’t even mention what I think of the price…:o

Blue

Pyro Stick:

The models arent bad but i cant believe the price. The Night Goblin command was almost worth it because of the size of the banner and that awesome armoured squig but they arent even proper command groups. Its crazy the Infernal Guard command is only £16 and its infinitely better.
