[Archive] What do we want to see in a rerelease of chaos dwarfs?

Hobgoblin King:

I think if we, as a group can identify conceptual themes we want to see in chaos dwarfs and hobgoblins, we might influence the reinstating of the army! And, perhaps even influence the model designs and aesthetics. We could send our finished ideas to games workshop as one deafening roar.

What do we like/ not like. I’ll go out on a limb and say big hats and curly beards should go?

-Hobgoblinking

rabotak:

if you must take my hat (and thou shall bleed for it!!!) but dont ever touch my beard!!!

Hobgoblin King:

Wavy beards good, more realistic, curly beards uh… duh? I will have to find I way to shave your beard maybe it will grow back wavy, or you could become a chaos dwarf slayer.

Knight Of Awsome:

They will come to us before we go to them, we will probably not notice. they will probably wont need help that much, its just if they do have your works ready:hat off

I'm afraid I don't share your faith in GW's communication skills ;)

However, I would like to see Engineers, Slavemasters and magic that focuses around the summoning and binding of Daemons.
I would like to see more warmachines.
I would like immortals.
I would like big hat miniatures to go in the dustbin of history (sorry, all you hatters).
I would like Hobgoblins to be relegated to more of a specialist role and leave the line infantry to be made up of CD (it is supposed to be a Chaos Dwarf army, after all).

I like the ideas:idea thats the kind of chaos dwarfs i want to see!

Hobgoblin King:

Slave masters hell yes, hobgoblin overseers hell yes , I am working on a unit of Hobgoblin beast runners leading converted yhetees (swamp monsters) into battle. I like hobgoblin infantry though, it makes a lot of since in chaos dwarf history. Slaves outnumber the chaos dwarfs a thousand to one and I think its important to depict that in the armies. What is an Immortal? I have heard reference to them on this sight but never an explanation. I also think hobgoblin culture should be more different than gobbos, they seem kinda interchangible in the army book. I really like your aesthetic though Wallacer! And, I agree with you Knight of Awesome, I will mail them our final pictures and Ideas, I am sure they will be inspired by us and I know A hire up that looks at all letters, if its good enough he will show even higher ups and we’ll have a voice, Lets be positive and pro-active!

Immortals?

Well, conventional wisdom is that CD lack elite heavy infantry (like iron breakers or hammerers in a normal Dwarf list).

Since CD have a middle eastern vibe to them, most people just call the hoped-for elite heavy Infantry immortals (although Persian immortals weren’t really elite heavy infantry, but that’s another topic).

Hobgoblin King:

Ahh, I see. That sounds cool.

Why are people so into masks? easier to fabricate?I like the idea of masks for protection from flames, Silmarillion dwarf style.

The new Hellcannon figures sold a lot of people on the idea of masks.
Plus, it seems reasonable to conclude that the Hellcannon figures may be GW's new vision for the future of how CD should look, so I guess a lot of people have just adjusted to it.

gIL^:

i just hope they wont take hats away from us, its what makes us different from other armies

Kera foehunter:

i say a navy!!!but hey if they don’t im going to have the best army ever!!! so just up date the rules with out making us a weak army!

Willmark:

If GW ever redoes the list (a big IF in my mind). Hats will be deader then a doornail as it were. Its unlikely to happen ever again for the very reasons stated every time this subject comes up…

Ronshank:

I’m not sure if I’m sold on this whole Persian thing. I love the idea of evil dwarfs. I have grown fond of many of the old aspects of the models. I just don’t understand why the chaos dwarfs can’t be a stand alone culture (plus even though I like hats on my command I blame the persian thing for the hats which do nothing but take away from models that are suppost to be evil/chaotic; hats on “goodie” type armies would work I’m sure)

I like the beards keep them. I want specfic slave rules etc and when it comes to the list I find that all the race changes take away from the co-heasivness(?) of the army on a purely race-culture basis. Simply having CD’s driving the other races as slave drivers should fix that. For such great slavers I just can’t get over the fact that when the CD army masses the slaves are left to their own devises.

We need really kick butt war machines too, with magic infusion after all it sets us apart from our fellow dwarfs and is well advertised thanks to the existance of the hellcannons.

Not sure how I feel about adding demons though, the list is confusing enough as it is.

Oh and to continue to toot my own horn I like the chaos masks, but only for their obvious use of :hashut hashuts horns (dost me see :hashut followers in desguise, just smethig to ponder)

Immortals would be a cool Golden Hat V competition.

I gotta agree with everything except the Demons. It doesnt fit my vision of Chaos Dwarves. Big hats won't happen, I bet. Slaves should be somewhat limited.

Kera foehunter:

Fe male chaos dwarfs!!! Everyone know that chaos dwarfs dont come from folds in the ground.
