[Archive] What is a STEEL WHIP?

Vexxus:

The following is directly from the free content available at www.specialist-games.com/mordheim :

Availability: Common (Sisters of Sigmar only).

Another weapon unique to the Sisterhood is the steel whip, made from barbed steel chains.

Range Strength Special rules

Close Com As user Cannot be parried, whipcrack

SPECIAL RULES

Cannot be parried: The steel whip is a flexible

weapon and the Priestesses use it with great

expertise. Attempts to parry its strikes are futile.

A model attacked by a steel whip may not make

parries with swords or bucklers.

Whipcrack: when the wielder charges they gain

+1A for that turn. This bonus attack is added

after any other modifications. When the wielder

is charged they gain +1A that they may only use

against the charger. This additional attack will

?~strike first?T. If the wielder is simultaneously

charged by two or more opponents they will

still only receive a total of +1A. If the wielder is

using two whips at the same time then they get

+1A for the additional hand weapon, but only

the first whip gets the whipcrack +1A.

Also, I managed to find some rule ammendments on the same site but much harder to find by browsing… how is that for dedication…

Viskar Zhragoth:

Thanks VEX! Now we know how to model it for GHVI!

Obsidian:

Again thanks!

I already have one that I just need to stick on the Gaoler. Now I just need to find the right base model…

Sojourn:

wow… that was like reading a Windows error message for me…

so basically, and please correct me if I’m wrong 'cause I don’t understand anything about attack stuff… or just WH in general…

a steel whip is a whip made of steel that is awesome and can’t be blocked? I want one. I will use it on stupid people… hehe >:)

Vexxus:

Yes Sojo, they can’t parry the attack! Additionally, it looks like it used to have the ability to range attack from 4" but they replaced that with having an extra attack when charging or charged, both have their pros and cons, but this item seems like a steal for the price

WarplockMonkey:

both have their pros and cons, but this item seems like a steal for the price :)

Don't you mean a 'steel'?

Ooooh sorry couldn't resist :P

Hashut’s Blessing:

A seel whip would be a whip of steel  Made like a guitar string, I would imagine…

turquois dwarf:

i see it as lots of jointed metal tubes like robot legs/arms but spikeyer

furrie:

thanks for the idea, I needed something cool for the whip :stuck_out_tongue:

Kera foehunter:

Steel whips ha !! what about barb wire whip ends

minty:

A seel whip would be a whip of steel :D Made like a guitar string, I would imagine...

Hashut's Blessing
not realy, there like a chain, but spiky...they where a real weapon, a chain, but each segment had a razor blade attached to either side, running the length of the link. this weapon could easily cause some serious damage. one lashing from that and the slavbe is obediant...well the rest of them, that ones probably dead but hey, it's a slave

Hashut’s Blessing:

Fair enough. Remonds me of a kind of sword (I can’t remember the name), that was like a flexible ribbon of metal that was curled up and used to ensare weapons and used like a whip, usually having multiple blades. Just as likely to kill you as them. More likely if you’re untrained…

AGPO:

It would be used to make an example rather than as a punishment. A normal flogging is bad enough but with a steel whip it would almost certainly be fatal. Personally I thought the old rules were better - you could use the whip to hold off opponents using the ranged attack then run away next turn without having the risk of close combat

Kera foehunter:

unless they have a gun.

cianty:

If anyone cares…

Steel whips were originally introduced with the Sisters of Sigmar warband (in the core rulebook) and - unless I’m mistaken - those are the only GW models with steel whips. There aren’t even many of them, but this is what they look like:

Hope this helps a bit.

AGPO:

Good old nuns. A friend of mine went to a convent school and from what she says they were much like this! At least she’s not dressed like some of the other female models in WFB shudder

cianty:

At least she's not dressed like some of the other female models in WFB *shudder*

AGPO
You mean like this Kislev Ranger (also Mordheim) e.g.?

al-hashut:

I didn’t think miniatures could get nip-slips…at least not on their own
