[Archive] Which is more fun to convert, Slaanesh or Tzeentch?

Grimstonefire:

So I’m thinking of expanding my nurgle Warriors of chaos with the followers of another god.  Same nurgle themed basing throughout.

I’m thinking both would involve a great deal of conversions to be done properly.  Go big or go home and all that.

I would start with a unit of marauders, then maybe some warriors.

Slaanesh would involve converting every sort of strange warped perversion I could think of, and probably buying a lot of single models  from other companies if they fit the theme. Like having a single ogre in a unit.  They would all be warriors though, no women slaves or any of that.  Warriors in gimp masks maybe, but still warriors.

Tzeentch would be a different kind of difficulty, because it would involve very free flowing sculpting.  The crazier I could make it the better.  The downside would be I’d have to scratch sculpt probably 75% of every model. :(   Again, all warriors, but the most crazy horrors I could imagine.

Thoughts?

Skink:

I reckon that the biggest question you should ask yourself is “do I want to paint a lot of Pink/Blue?”… That’s what I would ask myself at least.

Pink is a lot more forgiving that blue, and it’s very easy to combine colors together givem the huge amount of purlpe/violet paints available on the market.

Again, Slaanesh is fairly easier to convert than Tzeentch, as nowadays there are plenty of feminine miniatures available on the market…

MadHatter:

Please make this a slaanesh ogre http://www.games-workshop.com/de-DE/VielfraY-Frau-der-Ogernkönigreiche;jsessionid=6035AA03A35A2900E1D87B7FAEAD2ABF?_requestid=5784046

Admiral:

Tzeentch, without a doubt.

Dînadan:

Tzeentch, without a doubt.

+1 - Anything goes with Tzeentch.

That being said, as you run Nurgle, Slaanesh would probably be a better fit fluffwise.

Grimstonefire:

I did start sculpting a tzeentch ogre or two a few years back that had human bodies warped onto their armour.  Like anything they touched just merged with them.  If I did anything tzeentch it would be blending armour and skin all over the place.

@Madhatter
I was thinking something more like this for a slaanesh ogre, only iron and not gold

@Skink
Slaanesh I would paint almost totally black, with pink tinted armour and white skin.

tjub:

Doesn’t Tzeentch and Nurgle hate each other? That would make the choice easy for you…

Dînadan:

Doesn't Tzeentch and Nurgle hate each other? That would make the choice easy for you... ;)

Yep, that's why I think Slaanesh would be fluffier ;)

Bloodbeard:

Tzeenth would be an awesome army. I’ve seen manu Slaanesh armies. Never seen a tzeenth army I think.

I say Tzeenth. Keeper of Secrets, Changer of Ways. Lots of arcane stuff, scrolls, books, wings, beaks. I actually have a gazillion fathered metal wings in different sizes. Would fit both human and ogre sized. You can have those for cheap is toy go for this.

Geist:

Lets make this simple.

Tzeentch is all fire conversions so if you like flames go that way.

Slaanesh is all tentacles conversions so if you like that go that way.

Grimstonefire:

This is swinging me more towards Slaanesh.  I could add 5 to the marauders.  New plastic Wracks.  More the sort of direction I was imagining.

Kera foehunter:

I think that would work… so hurry and get it done

Grimstonefire:

I think I’m coming down on the side of making some Tzeentch ogres and some Slaanesh marauders.

I came up with some concepts for tzeentch ogres that imo are going to be crazily awesome. The only downside is I will have to pretty much scratch sculpt all of them. I do have some spare plastic ogre arms and heads.

The real trick though is stop just short of making them look like spawn.

On another note, I have started my plan to make 3 chariots pulled by rotflies. I have the rot flies ready converted, have just won a chariot on ebay and need to find 2 more.
