Note, I’m talking about actual copies, not a PDF of one.
What got me doing this was you guessed it, my nippon army. In the issue I was looking for: 3 metal ninja figures, 3 for £1.50, chaos warriors? 3 for £1.95.
So ill go first, unlike my back issues of Dragon my oldest copy of White Dwarf is not that old (relatively speaking). In my case it’s issue #81, from September 1986.
I know ive got 4 or 5 old issues but i cant remember which ones they are apart from Issue 103. I know ive got the issues with 3rd edition chaos dwarf rules in them but dont know their numbers.
My first issue was issue #201 it had a free mini in it either a skink w/ bow or bret archer that lead to my introduction into Warhammer, and I still have the skink!
The oldest issue I have is 131, and since I was born in '95 it’s interesting to see how the hobby was back then: the look of the stores, the prices, the fashion (dear gods, the fashion), etc.
I ordered the WD copy from the year I was born, and suitably it had a massive battle report in it featuring an orc, goblin, and chaos dwarf alliance. I was very chuffed to see that!
I have have issues WD75, WD76, WD77, then there are a few missing, and then I have ALL of them from about WD93 to current. And the weird thing is, i have MANY MANY duplicates from about 170 onwards. I used to buy them in bulk (50+ issues at a time) and remove the ones i wanted, and then on-sell the duplciates. the problem is I havn’t had time to much selling recently so the duplicates sit on a shelf in my garage.
I stopped buying them, as they were taking up too much room, and the ones I want/need are TOO expensive. They are definately not found in bulk lots.
Hmm I dont remember the issue numbers but I got a few of my first ever issues in my mums shed. I have the digganob one and the rerelease of epic 40k. I had the WHQ 2nd birthday issue too.
As luck would have it I have my first white dwarf in my bag at work, it?Ts games night tonight and I promised that I?Td bring it in. It is issue number 136 (April 1991) though my earliest issue is from before that (I’ll have to check when I get home).
I particularly remember it as it had a battle report in with Epic scale marines and IG taking on Orks using the first edition of the Adeptus Titanicus and Space Marine rules. Pretty much based on this one article I started collecting GW and playing their games. This issue also has the templates for building 40K scale Gobsmashas, Braincrushas, Bonecrushas and Lungburstas which is why I?Tm taking it in this evening.
When I was first getting into the the hobby there were a load of back issues in the Sheffield (and Meadowhall) Games Workshop stores and I bought one of all the issues they had in stock. So I ended up with a few pretty random ones.
My first is 100…back when they were a rather odd shape…I think I have up through about 185 or so…I lost interest in the 4th edition…girls and guitars took up all my time…
I actually have another (related) challenge, who has the most white dwarf models?
I’ve got 4 of them. (double handed axe, standing on the shield, and two of the one holding the helmet and axe ). I think the one with the bar stool is a bugman model?

Grimstonefire
You're not counting the same model twice are you? I have a friend who basically has them all. AFAICT. Well, probably not the gold plated one.
