There are hooligans that follow American sports, but they are outnumbered by real fans.
I'm not sure if it's just because we don't tolerate it at the games because there are kids there and they are on better behavior

Well, it isn't like hooligans area *majority* here either. Though they do make an impact way above their numbers.
That's one of the strangest things really in Europe, hooliganism actually is "hereditary" there are quite a few who actually takes their kids with them who learn by watching daddy...
In many places the clubs are fairly dependent on their "fanbase" e.g. they have rights to seats and thus the clubs have difficulties in enforcing bans and such. I don't remember how it finally ended but I think it was in Italy in Rome a policeofficer got killed after a game in a fight. There was a big discussion and then one hears nothing...
But it is mostly not about the sport for these people they are really semi-criminal organisations. There was an interesting program on Discovery where an actor who played football hooligan visited different infamous fanclubs.
"Don’t let your heads drop. We’re Liverpool. You’re playing for Liverpool. Don’t forget that. You have to hold your heads high for the supporters. You have to do it for them. “You can’t call yourselves Liverpool players if you have your heads down. If we create a few chances we have the possibility of getting back into this. Believe you can do it and you will. Give yourself the chance to be heroes’.”
My hometown was mostly Spurs and Arsenal supporters, and I sided with the latter when it came to 1st division (and later Premiership) games. My dad 's family were from Brentford though, so they are my proper team.
Man City though, not United, they have a good side this year it’s going to be tough. I’m going to enjoy anyway though, one of the rare saturdays I have off work and Gerrad might be back playing too
Although i live 15 miles from liverpool i am a southerner and support Tottenham. I think everyone was cheering liverpool on saturday it was like a ghostown here .
The only other team to beat Man utd this season was Tottenham
