I heard the other songs on the album, seriously considering buying the album.

I'm with Pyro, "Fate of Norns" is a poor album, with the exeption of "The Pursuit of Vikings".
I recomend that you buy "With Oden on our side" instead

With Oden On Our Side isnt one of their strongest albums either. Im always hearing people say that it sounds too clean. It still an epic album though so it is worth getting for songs like Runes To My Memory, Hermods Ride To Hell and Cry Of The Black Birds. I would also recommend The Avenger, Versus The World and Twilight Of The Thuder God.

Well, I like the all the Amarth albums from "Versus The World" and forward. This is because I don't really like Johan Häggs voice on the old ones.
If you want realy gritty and dirty death you should check this out www.myspace.com/decapitationswe (it's my new band :hashut)
Think of this: there is every other genre of music AND then there is METAL. Metal can be combined with many other, if not ALL other, genres of music and you get something cool. The same cannot be said for other genres. Have you heard any rap-country, or jazz-disco, and if so, how well will it be remembered?
Thus, I offer forth, the idea that Metal transcends Music and is its own force apart from it. Metal, if you like, is bigger than music of all other genres, simply because it includes every and all music and then adds itself. I suppose you could argue it the other way, but that's not very metal.
There is a reason Duncan Hill's coffee chose Dethklok to do their advertisements.
GRNDL
GRNDL I respect your ideas but I cannot agree. I love metal and I played bass guitar in a death-thrash band for years before splitting due to many reason but what you said it is wrong. Metal is just a part of music, an important part but just a part. Being a part of music it can be combined with every type of music just like any other genre. Have you heard of crossover? Ethnic-rock? In USA there are tons of groups that mix folk with rock and pop music, in Italy many groups mix traditional music with rock and pop with great results.
But most of the music is a mix of different genres, just as an example, The Police, they were a simple but really effective mix of reggae and pop.
How could you deny the blues roots of most of "classic" rock n'roll?
Electronic music is a giant meltin' pot of different genres.
It's just the talent that tells you if a mix is good or bad.
Sepultura mixed ethno music with metal in Roots and the result was ace. Fear Factory mixed metal and thecno and, IMO, their music is terrible.
This is just my opinion but this prove how it is not the genre that makes the difference but the talent of the musician.
Said this, country-rap would be horrible ahahahhah, even if funny to hear :)
I’m a big fan of Rammstein, but I thought they were not quite metal… and more hard rock?

My dogz got run ova by a pick up truck and that did suck so I pulled out my shotty and blasted him into the portapotty then I grabbed my jug and began to chug
Great, note to self… don’t rap… or try to rhyme… I fail…
