I like Death Magic because it can continuously replenish your magic supply. So it might be viable. I’m just not a fan of gun lines. Yes we can make a scary artillary battery but…I can’t think of a more boring game to play.

however, he has some great points. for example, i like the idea of putting in a couple of magma cannons and then using a level one with the signature spell to kill monsters. the question is, how viable is this? he says most monsters have a low LD, but that's not the case at all. hydras have a decent leadership, as do dragons, griffons, etc.

Not to keen on the army he “put together” (mind you, I haven’t played since 5th edd, so it may be a great army), personally I would prefere more HW/shield armed dwarves and a bunch of hobgoblins, but to each their own I guess ^^

yeah when he marched out the 4 smiths i totally lost track of what was going on…
but a death magic gunline could be great… with doom and darkness + hellcannons…
but spirit leech + stuff that already does multiple wounds… I’m just not seeing the synergy…
except like I say against Ogres and other such troops…
I’d kinda want to spread those magic hits around single wound models while the machines take on the monsters…

I won a tourny with a similar list, only it was with hailshots as my shooting unit, and a unit of ironsworn as my main melee. The important thing to note is that hailshot doesn’t replace your shield so they are just as good of an anvil in melee as the base model.
He did point out something I missed though: If you take an Iron Daemon you can take the steam carrages, I had never bothered to look at the rule as it makes an Iron Daemon and/or the warmachine with it suck. However the hard cover and counting as defended obstical is amazing, and you don’t actually have to start the game linked.
As for magic I usually go for fire and metal aiming for the buffs, hailshots are beyond scary with both buffs. As many of you have said I use the artillery to deal with monsters.

Gun lines are boring. I prefer combat so yes I’d rather face a Destroyer than a battery of warmachines and models that walk backwards.
Seriously suggesting to take 4 demon smiths (with a battery) just so you can totally ignore the randomness of warhammer (witch he claims he doesnt like). He should be playing chess.
