My dark brethren

I have been focusing more on my traitorous dawi lately but now I am practicing for a tournament coming up in a week. Tonight I played a game against the nasty Bretonnian exiles. I had some abysmal rolls but was able to land a small victory in the end.

Beautiful armies !

How did the game go ? Your right flank seems in a bit of a precarious position in this picture !

Thanks!

You are correct, but that was actually my plan. I would not have managed to deal with the Bretonnians if they had swarmed me all at once. Plus they had cannons. So I had to use the impassable terrain to avoid getting shot at, at least for a turn. Moreover, the terrain features created two natural funnels which would help slow down the assault. It was a bit crowded and messy at first, and I had to shuffle some troops around as reactions to my opponent’s moves, but I avoided taking any significant cannon damage (except for my unlucky wizard who failed his “Look out, sir”).

Meanwhile, on the right flank, the gobbos earned their points back quickly by standing close to the objective. They may have even killed a knight or two. I put my baggage train on the far right, to further divide his army, knowing that I would give up some points doing so. My five black orcs died gloriously protecting the baggage train, since they delayed the Pegasus knights during the game’s most significant turns.

Eventually the charges did come but my guys were then ready and able to fend off the attackers.

One thing that still bothers me, though, is my warboss, who failed his re-rolled break test, broke from combat, failed to rally, and ran off the board. He has been consistently unlucky since I started taking him!

A quick summary of the tournament:

1-19 vs Ogre Kingdoms

16-4 vs Tomb Kings (Royal host)

18-2 vs Empire

15-5 vs High Elves

3-17 vs Bretonnia (Exiles)

As you can see, my games were either big wins or big losses. 9th place out of 20 was my final result, which is actually my worst GT result so far. I only ran one Iron Daemon in this tournament. Against a superior list, or player, running two of them would even out some of the imbalance. Maybe this explains how the losses got so big this time, idk. It was a lot of fun, though!

Oh wow. Any more pictures you can post of these games would be appreciated. Always nice to see excellent armies in combat, especially on such awesome boards with such handsome armies.
